Because they were there illegally.
Exactly. Some of them were there on legal pitches, the ones they've moved on were illegally setting up home. They had no right to be there.
Why should they be treated differently from anyone else?
Are you proposing scrapping planning permission?
Nobody should be above the law, whether they be gypsies, travellers, you me etc
You seriously felt sorry for these travellers? And I do use that term loosely!
If I found someone living on land I owned, I'd want to get them off, too.
Would you like them at the bottom of your garden?
half of them were left alone, they had planning permission.

just because someone decided a law doesnt mean its right or i agree with it, there are plenty i dont! the way they treated them was wrong, they are human beings and we can all live in peace, if it was my land i'd let them stay
I'd have more sympathy if they were travellers who roamed from place to place and livied in the woods or the countryside. But to build these plots with walls and permanent facilities was nothing to do with travelling and everything to do with setting up a ramshackled housing estate with no planning permission, design or infrastructure. It needed clearing as it would if we did it on each others land.
If they want to be treated like a civilised society, they should pay towards that society, they don't, they leach and steal from it. No sympathy from me- none at all i'm afraid.
If everyone else has to abide by the law of the land - whether we agree with it or not - they should too. No exceptions.
<<just because someone decided a law doesnt mean its right or i agree with it>>

No, but it does mean that it is a Law and we are *all* bound by the Law...
^^ and people who have built extensions to their legitimate houses have to take them down if they contravene planning regs - it's not just travellers who the law affects.
They can stay aims1202, but not on the bit without planning permission, if you like them that much invite them round to your back garden.

Dave.
They have total disregard of the laws of this country so why should the authorities pussyfoot around them?

they are very welcome in my garden, as is everyone, but its not very big!
Well just before you invite em aims, nail down anything of value you'd quite like to keep, as they'll nick it.
''they are very welcome in my garden''

I'm sure your neighbours will be delighted...
Hope you don't live near me.
