How long do you all give it before we see civilian casualties with air strikes on wedding parties or high level attacks on the opposition etc
I also saw reports of the opposition not wanting any outside intererence as THEY don`t want another Iraq. What is the truth?

Oh how I remember with pride & nostalgia how we traded with & fought together with our comrades in Australia,New Zealand,India,& all our other former colonial allies, I don't particularly want to be linked to the French & Germans or the Americans for that matter. For goodness sake let us keep out of Middle East problems & let the Arabs sort it. ( Also Posted in ''Into Another War'')
If US air force is involved anyone on the ground is at risk.
They will be enforcing a no fly zone, not targeting anything on the ground so It won't be an issue. Are you Gadaffi's brother in law or somthing?
They may have to take out some radar though R1, and whats the betting Gadaffi has put women and kids round them?
Well the no-fly zone threat has obviously worked. Gadaffi has declared an immediate ceasefire.
That wouldn't surprise me youngmafbog.

Are you having me on???
what I mean is that on the ground they'll be targettiing things like Sam's and radar. Not going after particular targetted indivisuals like in Iraq so they won't be targetting resurants etc.

It was reported on the news that loud explsions have just taken place outside Tripoli. Gaddafi had already declared a cease fire and is not targetting civilians by air.

So what are these large bangs. It may be the French or even the English bombing Gaddafi's air fields. There are some itchy fingers about!

No, i`m just looking for an answer as to why we are not looking to help the other protesters in the Yemen or Bahrain.

because, as has been said a thousand times they are not slaughtering their own people from the air. Geddit!

So are you that nieve to think that if Gadaffi said he`d ground all aircraft today, the USA and UK would forget about him and cancel their intent for an invasion?
Besides, it is criminal to kill your own people from the ground or air "Geddit"
I'm sorry I canot make head or tail of what you are getting at. No fly zone makes it much harder for Gaddafi to commit atrocities, no one's talking about invasion. Gaddaffi may or may not ground his planes but if he doesn't they'll be grounded for him. Yes of course he can still commit atrocities on the ground,
I too have no idea where BoP is coming from on this.

The leaders of Bahrain are not meglomaniacs, Qadaffi is. Both Bahrain and Yemen are not killing their citizens by the hundreds or waging effectively war against them. Bahrain has a spat going on and even the King their has announced the intentions to introduce reforms.....what is happening there is a religious punch up.

Yemen is an internal strife between the clans - effectively the Yemen is made up of a series of families/clans/tribes whatever you want to call them and there has been a high degree of lawlessness for some years. Even when I was out visiting both Yemens back in the 80s, you took some care where you went, though the situation has worsened over the years. The Government has never been in full control of the country and certainly not since re-unification.
