The Queen is absolutely right to give the town of Wootton Bassett this title as an expression of their observance and respect for the returning dead from Afghanistan and Iraq.

I feel it is appropriate.
Agree
But I'm glad I'm so don't live there
Well deserved
I think it's a well-earned title.
Yes, I agree.
Excellent, but lets not spend a fortune on new roadsigns until we can afford it.
nice gesture
Agree.
One goes to bed at night living in Wootton Bassett and one wakes up in the morning living in Royal Wootton Bassett.
How does that change the lives of the people that live in that town?

Yes....I agree.

Oh I want to see who the anti-royalists are, flush them out!
I agree.

Sorry to disappoint you DT ;o)
Well deserved.

The Welsh have changed all their place names and signs at a huge cost (Rhyl is Rhyl and Y Rhyl!) So one town in England isn't going to damage the coffers much more.

Guess they will just graffiti in Royal or a crown above the Wootton Bassett on their road signs......especially as there are no Council funds.
I wholeheartedly agree.Ron.
Well, I am not a royalist, but I do think it is a good thing to give the town the recognition it deserves. If this helps the town in any way, then I am all for it. I would think and hope thought that any town that has the opportunity to welcome back British soldiers would act just as this one does and line the streets to welcome these brave boys and girls.
DT - you've flushed me out - the Royal family is a ridiculous and expensive anachronism - I do however respect the people of Wootton Bassett and if it tickles them to be Royal good on them.
I agree absolutely, the town deserves it.
I agree. It is fitting to 'honour' those who honour. I don't think it has to do anything for the people or the town other than to recognise them and the place.
excellent idea. Now their service will never be forgotten.
Agree never failed to give a return fit for heroes and never asked.
