Personally I don't want to get nicked for using mouthwash so I'd go with a trace amount but generally I think it's a good idea. You can currently drink a surprising amount and still be legal which i clearlt wrong.

Because of things like mouth wash and sherry trifle.

I have no problems with it being lowered....it just can't be zero.
JJ....on top gear they did a driving test. The bloke listening to heavy metal got the best result.
Also the body actually produces minute amounts of alcohol I believe, so there is always a trace.
Again, we are trying to justify drinking and driving with the complaint that 'next morning' tests will compromise drivers.

Not if you accept that your wish to drive a ton of metal through pedestrian areas with the potential to kill someone means that you have to forgo your alcohol consumption unless you don't drive for forty-eight hours afterwards.

Let's stop trying to justify and excuse alcohol and driving - the two do not belong together - if you wish to do one, you cannot do the other. I fail to see the problem.
And SatNavs ...

Programming a SatNav while trying to drive should definitely carry an automatic one year ban.

It is SOOO dangerous.

Having said which, the SatNav in the Land Cruiser won't let me change it unless the car is stationary, which is a pain in the butt.
by the 3rd sip of wine I'm anybody's :)
I agree Andy...almost totally.

I think it should be lowered but it can't be zero.

it CAN & should be zero - save some booze money for taxis
I'm going to take my book and my newspaper, and go for lunch.

I may have a glass of wine.

Thankfully ... the pub is in walking distance ... **phew**

Actually, if I'm walking back, I might as well have a BOTTLE of wine.

=0)
Look at the Sky link.

It is proposing a 20 mg limit, as opposed to the current 80mg. No one is proposing zero.
listen to a radio JJ i have never heard anything so daft !!!
next you will be trying to tell me that it is dangerous to reply to AB using my BB whilst trying to concentrate on driving is dangero .....................oooopss !!!! Oh F*%K errrrrm !!
i have been nearly run over several times by drivers using mobiles and not paying attention!
It can't be zero...!!

I agree that no one should have a drink and then drive. They shouldn't have to worry about using mouthwash or having a trifle though....
Fluff....I was hit by someone using their mobile. At a pedestrian crossing..!

It hurt :-(
So are we agreed ...

Using a mobile phone while driving is demonstrably dangerous, and should carry an automatic 1 year ban ?

Okay, this is so not fair. If I keep reading this thread, I won't get a table for lunch. I'll end up propping up the bar with all the leery blokes drinking their man beer.

So ... I have to go. Byeee. Mwah x
the last one was too close for comfort, knocked my bag with his wing mirror, they are effing idiots!
"Also the body actually produces minute amounts of alcohol I believe, so there is always a trace. "

Is this true? Never heard or come across that.
you gotta commit an offence before you're tested; drive carefully.
"so his personal limit is 5 pints of stella! "

Ah, but yours isn't ... hence, 'grey area'.
