I feel this is worthy of a question of it's own, certainly deserving of discussion and thorough investigation.
The EDL's leader "Tommy Robinson" (real name: Stephen Yaxley-Lennon) is on the leaked list of BNP members, he is also a criminal. He did 12 months for attacking a police and for the pssession of cocaine in his house.
Another prominent EDL figure is Jeff Marsh a violent criminal with convictions for stabbings. He's written a book - underneath all the violence and stabbings he's a real humanitarian, I think this is the book.

Then there is Chris Renton - a life long neo-Nazi.
Allan Hetherington-Cleverley served 4 years for people-smuggling, but maybe illegal immigrants are OK if you can make money out of them?

If convicted Dr, they're out.
I get the feeling there's an elephant in the room, noone seems to want to talk about the E.D.L's criminal leaders, wonder why....
no one knows anything about them other than what some leftie has had printed.
it is kind of baffling, isn't it. aog spends a lot of time demanding that ordinary Muslims condemn extremists and yet when he's invited to condemn good old English criminals he can't quite bring himself to speak the fateful words.

To suggest all politicians are the same is just piffle.

I don't which would irk him more, the idea that he'd been possessed by a demon, or the idea that he'd possessed by a foreign demon.
From Iran, of all places...lol
jno i have had drinks with a few football nutters ( have some scouse friends) but i have never drank in the company of bent mp's
Question Author
I'm no good on the world wide web, feel free to provide information refuting it, I'd welcome it.
Very good point JNO, I've always said it's a remarkably different story when you threaten to make a burger out of someone else's sacred cow.
Question Author
I know loads of fotball nutters, I go the match reguarly, I wouldn't want them on my Parish council though.

/// whose life comes closer to your own - the one who's been to Eton, worked in advertising, then entered politics; or the one who's been inside for attacking police and possessing cocaine? (Or people-smuggling?///

You again repeated yourself, but failed miserably to address my counter comparison regarding those future "been to Eton, worked in advertising, then entered politics" who only recently committed the crimes I outlined.
everton they are only daft on match day sound as a pound the rest of the time

well as sound as me :)

they are much to honest to be an mp :)

You've failed to condemn their criminality also AOG.
You can't condemn someone for something that hasn't happened yet, if in twenty years time we have an M.P who has concealed a conviction for rioting, they'll have to resign, if you have concrete evidence in twenty years time that they committed offences in this riot (any riot, any significant criminal act) they'll have to resign.
Should these people resign their leadership of the E.D.L?
Do you condemn the things they've been convicted of?
Do they represent you?
I recently posted a report on Friday's late night radio show presented by George Galloway.

On this show he interviewed 'Tommy Robinson' real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, who admitted he had to change his name because of violent threats to himself and family.

But it is a pity, because I have searched but cannot find my post, so I can only assumed it was removed by someone who did not want the facts about the EDL coming out.

But then it could have been removed because I broke a AnswerBank rule, but why I don't know, it could not have been because I had mentioned George Galloway, even though he is a controversial figure he should not be above criticism.

More likely it was banned because I mentioned the particular Radio Station who had broadcast this interview, whichever I apologise for any breech of rules.

It is only a shame because I think my report on the interview would have been of interest to readers of this question.
Sums up why the police are wary of them and its a cert bet that the boys in the smart offices on the Thames will be carefully watching their every move, conversationl, e-mail etc.... Even if one does not agree with political extreme 'wings,' (be they for example the EDL or Muslim factions, the right to freedom of speech is something that we (largely) have cherished in the UK. Unfortunately, there does seem to be a growing trend in this country that these 'wings' are being increasingly infiltrated by extremists, extortionists, exploitationists and down-right nutters, who see them as fair game to push their personal agendas against the overall wishes of society at large.,
/// Should these people resign their leadership of the E.D.L? ///

Dependant on what they are accused and convicted of doing.

/// Do you condemn the things they've been convicted of? ///

Given the proof of the severity of their crimes, not just here-say, then of course I am prepared to condemn them, as I would of any other common criminal.

/// Do they represent you?///

Not the individuals themselves, but the purpose for what their party is trying to do something about (ie. the rise of Islam in this country) that I do support.
AOG

Why did do you posit that protesting students were on drugs???

That may seriously put you in the lead for 'Most I'll-informed AOG post of the year'.

And that's up against some pretty strong competition.

123Everton has performed a valuable service highlighting the background of some of the BNP leadership.

I certainly wouldn't be happy having a cokehead representing MY views. Who knows whether he was high or not?

bnp or edl ?
sp1814

/// Since 123everton has performed a valuable service highlighting the background of some of the BNP leadership.///

Perhaps he can now perform another valuable service by providing us with the proof of the EDL's (that is what is under discussion here not the BNP) leadership background?

Following every one of123everton's speculations, may seriously put you sp1814, in the lead for 'Most I'll-informed.

Regarding the Student drug issue, are you telling me that Students lead a totally drug free life? why even some of our leading politicians have 'come out' and admitted that they have had the occasional venture into the world of drugs.
http://www.vidsurf.ne...of_Galloway_Lies.html

My reference to the late night radio show.

I now have found a YouTube video of that interview, notice who gets angry.
So what? Convicted criminals in some form of political party is far from original. A pointless post.
"Regarding the Student drug issue, are you telling me that Students lead a totally drug free life? "

As a non-alcoholic and non-narcotic student myself, I can vouch for the possibility.
yes but the EDL dont pretend to be anything other than right wing thugs. TBH I find them more palatable than the BNP who attempt to hide behind a political agenda.
