Thank goodness we have an Etonian back in No.10.

Public schoolboys are taught how to lead, and how to be leaders.

At "normal" schools, they are afraid of appearing "elitist" and so they are taught "how to be equal" ...

... what earthly use is that ???

PMs should not "empathise" with us, or "relate to" us ... they should LEAD us !!

Remember ... Tony Blair was educated at Fettes College ... the Scottish equivalent of Eton.

I think a public school education should be a pre-requisite of standing for Prime Minister.

Well, we're all entitled to our opinion...
oh, to have rich parentage..

tony ... it makes sense.

Ordinary people just can't cope with high office like that ... witness John Prescott !!

Public school prepares them to hold high office.

There is no real argument against my proposition ...

... except one of jealousy and prejudice.
was that bad grammar? blame my comprehensive school education!
Question Author
Well, I presumed you meant rich parents, rather than rich parentage, Sassy ...

... but hey ... who's counting !!

Consider another public school and Oxford man, Asquith. The stress on him was so severe he took to drink and if he's remember now it's for the word, 'squiffy'.
My Grandmother on my dad's side had a public school education and my Dad went to a private school until he was 11, they could both shoot a pigeon out of a tree with ease. Served them well during the war cos they used to sell the pigeons to the local butcher,

Sandy ...

... so you have to go back a hundred years to find an example to challenge my point?
JJ history informs,
my grandmother used to compete with the boys from Chester School at shooting, she went to the Queens School and then Reeseheath, all before WW1.
No,. not a hundred years. There's another famous Tory PM who didn't go to public school. Mrs Thatcher
Question Author
The one whom everyone condemns as a despotic mad woman, Sandy?

Or are you an ardent admirer of Mrs Thatcher's leadership of the country ?
She was a monster. I only mention her here as an example of a PM who didn't need the supposed advantages of a public school education.
Question Author
But Sandy ... she supports my case ... not yours.

Mrs T did not have the benefit of a public school education.

Therefore, when she came to power, instead of slipping comfortably into the role of leadership, she became an obsessive, self cenred tyrant, with no regard for the wants or needs of others.

A Roedean girl, or a Benenden girl, would have been much more suitable for the job.
Touche. I walked into that one. OK consider the best PM we ever had. Clem Attlee didn't go to public school.
