Tragic loss

Such a Tragic loss of a young life. My deepest sympathies are with the Family.

Agreed, tragic.

However, it sounds like he was hit as a pedestrian while on the road unsupervised (at 3 years old). I know children can be a handful, but you have to watch them all the time because cars and children do not mix.

Any death of a child is tragic, particularly so if it turns out the death was easily preventable.

Whenever I read something as tragic as this,my mind always goes to my grandchildren
and the terrible thought of them in a similar situation,God forbid.
My heartfelt sympathy goes to all the poor childs family.

Gromit - You think that the Young boy's death could have been prevented quite easily....but I would have to disagree as you never know what's going to happen.

Eg - Could have been a accident that nothing / nobody could have stopped.

Of course, thats just what I think everybody has a diffrent way of thinking, I dont think that there is a right or wrong here!!

It is a tragic incident.

His parents may have been distracted, he may been 'mischievous' and not done as he was told or there may have been another reason.

Chorley Old Road is a very busy Main Road and no child should be unsupervised on it. That was a contributing factor to the 'accident'.

Northernmonkey, why do you think BOO is being disrespectful? I had already read the thread on the link, and wondered the same thing ------ and it certainly doesn't mean that I feel any the less sorry for the poor little boy and his family

Most so called "accidents" are preventable (I would go so far as to say most accidents are nothing of the sort - but easily preventable with a bit of thought).

A car is going to fast, the driver is reading a map or using a mobile phone, the child is not being supervised, the child should not be out at a young age etc etc.

My rather stupid neighbour put a childrens swing in his garden right in front of his greenhouse. If one of the children had fallen off the swing and crashed into the greenhouse people would have said "a terrible accident".

But it was nothing of the sort, the stupid man next door should not have put the swing where he did (as it happens there was no accident and the kids are now grown up).

But few accidents are really accidents but lack of planning or foresight.
