Not sure if this constitutes a "News" entry on AB but did anyone watch "The Conspiracy Files" on BBC 2 tonight (Sunday) about the collapse of WTC building 7 on 9/11?
I'm rather sceptical about the official theory and I'm particularly interested in the BBC reporting that building 7 had collapsed before it did. During the interview with their on-the-spot reporter, the connection was lost. The BBC have explained this by saying, "The satellite feed had an electronic timer which cut out at quarter past five exactly". Oh really? Well, I've been watching the news for years and I don't recall ever watching a live news feed from another country that suddenly terminated at 5:15pm.
I also think that the phrase "conspiracy theory" has been hijacked by the powers that be. The very definition of a conspiracy theory is that more than one person conspired with another to carry out a specific act. The fact that the official story involved more than one person colluding with another, makes the official story a "conspiracy theory" in itself.
Anyway, I'd be interested to hear what AB regulars have to say (if anything).

I've seen loads of TV interviews screw up because a satellite link is lost <I'm sorry but we seem to have lost our link with Kate Adie there...>, or audio material gets linked to the wrong video material or... lots of dumb things. All the more likely to happen under high pressure situations like 9/11, I would have thought.

The loss of building 7 was an amazing piece of luck for al-qaeda. Without directly targeting it, they destroyed the offices of the CIA in New York, New York�s Office of Emergency Management, and the Department of Defense.

most people spend most of their time telling us the powers that be in the Western World couldn't organize a pi55 up in a brewery. Then when some fantastical theory is put forward, suddenly there are milllions of numpties who suddenly start to believe all manner things in the name of some hidden agenda, organise by the hithertoo useless Western powers, probably by GWB himself! All the so called anomolies have been explained countless times. Apply Occams razor people!
I can give you the best reason in the world for believing that 9/11 was *NOT* a conspiracy involving the US government.
There were NO pointers to Iraq.
The Bush administration was desperate to find some link between 9/11 and Iraq but really had nothing.
Had this been a conspiracy there would have been pointers to Baghad everywhere and not to Saudi Arabia.

If there had been a conspiracy, then it would have taken hundreds of people to plan it and then carry it out. Someone would have talked - tempted by large sums of money by the media etc - and no-one has come forward to say that they were involved. No concrete evidence has been found (no pun intended) unlike the Watergate theory where there was hard evidence.
I agree with the firefighter that it is an insult to the memory of all the people who died to say that the goverment planned it.
George W had just fiddled his way into the job, so it would have been the Clinton Administration that thought the whole thing up! I don't believe any of them had the nouse to do it.

International satellite time is stricty controlled, even more so when eveyone else wants satellite time to file their reports. Time would have been very tight due to the pressures of other world broadcasters wanting to use the service too. Normally a leeway is built in such as 5 minutes each end of the booking, but that must have been breached and so the feed went down.
In the programme the reporter answered the question of why she claimed the building had gone before it had, poor information coming form Reuters ( very well respected news service) which was itself based on a local news report.
The BBC rarely mis reports events ( compared to Sky first with news , but not always right) and I think the 'truth' campaigners jumped on this quite small slip in reporting as it was the BBC which is well resected in the world of news.
The collapse was also attributed to uncontrolled fires and the unusual design bridging a subway and electricity sub station. The Dutch demolition expert shown in the 'truth' film was viewing the building from one side (away from the side damaged in the south tower collapse) and based his comments purely on what he saw without asking what the other aspects of the building looked like.
As for govt. backed conspiracy then anyone who has ever worked in govt. local or national will tell you
1. Keeping secrets is impossible in a large oraganisation, someone somewhere will spill the beans.
