The only thing I heard recently was that they found balloons somewhere but no sign of the vicar.
Hmmm, apparently the vicar was never swept away. It was just his cloak. People presumed he had gone too, but he had merely just ran off as he was naked. He is too ashamed to come out.
I do believe they have yet to find his cloak yet though...
He wasn't a vicar, he was a priest, and a quick google of 'priest balloon' brings up quite a few articles, this being the top one

His body has been recovered:

He was never 'swept away' - it was a planned event.

Thanks Ethel ! I knew it was a planned event but I'm sure it was an accident that he ended up dead !!
I often wonder what causes the balloons to deflate?

If you look at the photo on spudqueen's link, the balloons are not deflated. The body was not found with the balloons, so he must have ditched for some reason.

Hi Jillius,

I saw this update to the story and was thinking about the person on here who had asked about further news - didn't get the chance to search your question, so, without stealing Gromit's glory - I'll post his link;
