Just how proud is it possible to be?

We had parent's night at school tonight for our boys and I am so proud of them. They are both doing really well academically, but even more important, their teachers described them both as lovely boys who were kind and responsible and helpful. I am always proud of them and will always love them, but it is so lovely when someone tells you that your kids are lovely - I am so proud I could cry - how sad is that.

What has made you proud in life?

Yes I know - I am getting my own back for the tantrums in the street when my youngest used to bang his head off the pavement!
Hi, you have every right to be proud of your boys, i am sure they will grow up to be a credit to themselves and their parents,
Annie that's great , it is always a good feeling when others praise your children , and yes , you should be proud of them , well done. :-) xx

I have a son and couldn't be a prouder mum :-)

That's great news. I always try to something positive on Parents' Night even if the child is not so great in their school work

My friend's daughter has told me I'd make a great mom. That is probably not in the cards for me, but it felt nice to hear. (Of course she's now 12 and would rather die than be affectionate to anyone over 16.LOL)

You should be proud of yourself annie for bringing your boys up as well as you have done!
I'm bringing up my son on my own and i'm having a few problems at the moment but I'm managing most of the time and I'm bloody well proud of myself!

Thanks for all your answers - I have to share the credit with my other half though, as he stayed at home with them when they were very little, and I have always had them after school and nursery. Their faces were beaming last night when we told them about all the good things their teachers had said about them, so hopefully they feel proud of themselves as well.

I hope it continues as they are only 7 and 6 now.

Legend - that's great that your wee one is so proud of himself, there is nothing more important than positive reinforcement and that is something you can do even if you are not able to be with him every day.

Hellibobs - It must be hard managing on your own, I am sure that you are doing a great job and that your son will be a credit to you. I am sure that everyone falls of the rails from time to time, but if they know right from wrong at an early age and feel loved and good about themselves, I don't think that there can be any better start in life regardless of your financial or social circumstances.

I think that all those minutes sitting on the step as toddlers may be paying off!
Before becoming a parent would anyone have believed that one day you'd beam with pride over a fart or a belch

Hi paulos - I presume you mean your baby's rather than your own? LOL However, there is a time and a place for pride in your own productions - usually on your own - or in company when everyone is blaming someone else!
Or just proud I've got someone to blame who can't deny it yet
I'm so glad I don't have kids. Lovely image that paulos.

I'm not proud of anything today. Getting up was quite an achievement though.
