For once he seems to be talking sense. Normally when he speaks about global matters I think he should go back to the typing pool with the other chimps and continue trying to type out The Complete Works Of Shakespeare.
It goes without saying that UK Gov should encourage a return to democracy in all places rules by dictators and Juntas, whether it be Burma, Pakistan or Saudi Arabia.

Other than echo what Bush says, I think that the should be the limit of any UK 'action'.
Off topic, but isn't it Myanmar now?
I agree with Groms.

Hiya Nick m'dear, you alright? I'd forgotten your smartar5e tendencies ;0P But yes, I think you have a point.

If Burma is good enough for the British, it should be good enough for everyone.
I'm far from being a smarta rse my dear. I just got used to calling it Myanmar over the last few years, and now all the media is reverting back to Burma. It hurst my poor tired brain.
It would also be good if people stopped saying 'the Ukraine'. It's now just 'Ukraine'.

Many thanks.
Now that Bush has upset the Muslim world upsetting a few Buddas must be par for the course.

Firstly, to address the question - what sort of action?

Otherwise, i was wondering why it was no longer "Myanmar". I guessed that either no-one knew where the hell Myanmar was or it was an "up yours" to the current regime.

As for Bushy, I suspect that the Yanks are itching to go into Burma. C Rice was castigating the country a while back, and the propaganda machine has started: in "Stealth" there is a meeting of terrorist masterminds in Rangoon, and the upcoming "Rambo" film has Stallone taking on the Burmese army...
Burma was officially renamed by the junta in 1989 to Myanmar.
Expect the US govt and others to apply pressure to China, who have been a supporter of the curent military junta, providing arms and diplomatic support in the UN, to use this political and economical influence with Myanmar's ruling generals to improve it's human-rights practices and release the winner of the 1990 elections (Aung San Suu Kyi) from house arrest.
