Not wanting to trivialise the situation and everyone knows of Burma but isn't it now Miramar. Even the usually ultra pc BBC is saying Burma.

Almost John but not quite. It's actually called Myanmar, so that would account for why the BBC isn't calling it Miramar. Though I get what you were meaning! I think this is because so few people call it Myanmar and still think of it as Burma, so it saves them having to keep explaining themselves?
The Burmese Generals changed the name to Myanmar, to create a break with the past. However, as very few countries recognise the military dictatorship in place since the 1988 elections were overturned by the army, most countries still refer to Burma.
Is it safe to assume that john2tzh is a fan of "Top Gun"?

Never seen the film so I'm afraid the inference is lost on me!
Sorry - as is often the case an assumption turns out to be incorrect.

In the film, Mr Tom Cruise did his TOPGUN fighter training at the Miramar Naval Air Station.
The UN Call it Myanmar, most of Western Europe us both, and the UK and US don't receognixe the authority of the military junta that took over and so still call it Burma
My typing's awful today. Decipher that previous post if you can :)
