Why were there no arrests made, over this incident? And why was this not given wide TV coverage? Is it not time Burkas were banned once and for all?

Well, you can see for yourself that the judge has set the standard for illegality. It has to be threatening, hateful and uncompromising and capable of whipping up a frenzy and a perverted use of ideology to propose destruction and death and designed to encourage murder and terrorism.

Does holding up up tiddly bits of paper with the words "British Police Go To Hell" whilst dressed like a Dalek fall under this?
I never thought there would be any arrests, because TB would have been implicated, and if memory serves, right at the beginning, Irvine said that if he's prosecuted, he'd sing,

So the Teflon Man escapes unscathed again.
WE have a culture here in the UK (and have had for centuries) that you do not cover your face in public in normal circumstances. Motorcyclists are asked always to remove their helmets upon entering a building, for example.
Otherwise there is a reasonable assumption that one is up to no good. Else why would robbers wear balaclavas and masks? Hiding the face means there is something to hide and that the wearer doesn't want to be identified.

Many traditions require that the hair is covered in public, but that is a different matter. It does not prevent identification and normal communication with the wearer, and therefore is quite acceptable. Covering the face is not (medical requirements excepted).
we are not ENGLISH anymore we have embraced to many cultures and we are now paying the price we are the minority in our own country.in 10 years time we will have to bow to the laws of people who have come here whether legal or not.enough is enough stop all the immigration now and restore england to the english.racist views maybe but i really dont care what people say we ahve been to lenient with immigrants and all they do is take advantage of our system........and then try to blow us up its time to fight back tough action is needed now..

ps...........were the protesters really women?we dont know with their faces hidden do we?
They won't move to a Muslim country because this type of thing wouldn't be tolerated in the likes of Saudi: In Saudi they would be arrested, tortured and even possibly killed.

It is ironic that these people hate this country, even though it is this country that allows them to have the freedom to protest in this manner.
stokemaveric - your post made me laugh out loud.

Thank you - you've brightened up my day...stil chuckling.

In answer to the original post - no, they shouldn't be banned. Unless you get thousands of Muslim women committing armed robberies whilst wearing their burkas, there's no reason whatsoever to ban them.

Something to do with 'freedom of choice'.
anotheoldgit and his pet subject again.

Someone must be able to invent an AB-Outrage-Generator to save you time and effort. You simply type in that day's news story, turn racial uproar to 'max' and then let it write the posts for you.

It could pretty much write your post, plus the majority of the responses, automatically. In fact, I think I could have predicted most of these almost word for word.
lol minority in our own country - get a grip...
banning burkas - what for? It doesn't affect anyone other than the wearer does it.
The men charged were not arrested at the original protest re cartoon images instead an investigation was conducted and then charges were brought, maybe the same thing is going on now but if police go to hell is as bad as it gets i doubt there is a case to answer for...
Furthermore, I remember all those posts back when the original protests (over the cartoons) - people writing "Why didn't the police arrest the protest, double standards etc".

Well as you can now see...men were arrested, tried and convicted.

Why the wait? Because there's a bigger picture. If the police identify radicals, they are going to want to see who they associate with. They will want to build a better understanding of who they should be monitoring, and gather intelligence.

So the next time Muslim radicals protest, please hold off on slating the police, please remember that they're not stupid. They know what they're doing.

Lonnie Please read more than the first line of the question, we are not talking about Cash for Honours.

Stokemaveric A brilliant post, you know if it has touched any nerves when sp1814 admits it made him laugh. Don't be scared of being called racist this is the overused ploy used to stop us from speaking out on behalf of the English people.

NJOK
You simply type in that day's news story, turn racial uproar to 'max' and then let it write the posts for you.

What a good idea, The days news story, mainly about race (True) ie Terrorists, Drugs, stabbings, shootings, drugs, muggings, honour killings, protests need I go on? No need to turn up the volume it is already on max. we have had enough. That is why you can predict the posts because they are becoming increasingly headline news stories. It is not only you that can predict some of the responses, so can I because there are some on this site that don't care to know what is happening to this country.

sp1814
Well not quite thinking straight once again are we?

Why the wait? Because there's a bigger picture. If the police identify radicals, they are going to want to see who they associate with.

That is the whole point how can the police identify these covered-up individuals, to enable them to take further action against them?

If the Muslims have any sense, it would be wise of them in the future to all wear Burkas when carrying out terrorist acts or demonstations . Maybe they could also refuse to remove the said article of clothing for an ID parade? Nothing would suprise me in this country.
anotheoldgit

9/11, 7/1, 21/7 - not a single woman amongst any of those terrorists, were there?

Therefore, if you demand that Muslim women remove their burkas, what reason could you provide?

Seriously, stokemaveric's post really did make me laugh..."we are the minority in our own country" coupled with an astonishing disgregard for English grammar?

Better than vaudeville.
NJOK
I thought it was a very funny answer. I like the idea, AB could ask people to fill in a questionnaire at the start - are you reactionary right or loony pc left, please tick.

Anotheoldgit. Remember you are speaking out on behalf of only some English people, not all and certainly not on my behalf.
Bye the way if Burkas were banned do you then think that those women would change their views?
Anyway why worry if stocekace is correct in 10 years time we all be Muslim's anyway, despite the fact the majority of British people hadn't previously been religious
AOG

I think what NJOK was saying is that all of your questions (at least in the News section) seem to be about issues to do with race...or more specifically, critiquing non-whites.

Oddly...nothing which could possibly be construed as accepting that black/Asian Britons actually addanything positively to the country.

"Just the bad news please"
Hello me old dear. I have to say I agree (unsuprisingly) with both Splat and NJOK, you do seem to have a bit of a theme running in your posts.

But that said I do also think you take a small delight in getting us limp, wristed lefties responding to your questions.

And as it does seem rather the usual rabble (myself included) who answer it is easy to predict the way these are going to go. Typical knee jerk reactions from those quick to agree about the state of Britain based on very little knowledge with a few sensible and detailed answers from the right and left wingers who are smarter than the average bear. And usually a vaguely sarky and (very) slightly informed answer from me.

Which does begger the question why ask? To start a debate? To see if any of us will ever change our opinions? To see how many agree and thus giving your own opinions some weight? Obviously this could be said for all questions in news.

But hey ho, it keeps us all amused eh?! Have a good rest of sunday love!

sp1814 Do I need to repeat over and over again, when a person wears a Burka how the hell do you know who or what they are? That is the reason I demand (as you put it) that they are removed.

ruby27 I wondered how long it would be before you surfaced with your usual insignificant reply. Perhaps AB should also include a space on their questionnaire for just LOONY for your tick.

sp1814

"Just the bad news please"

No not just the bad news, no doubt some must add to the good of the country, but lets have things into perspective, on a one to one basis.

Perhaps you yourself would care to start two lists 1/ what have been the advantages of Black / Muslims to this country? and 2/ what have been the disadvantages?
You asked a specific question - why were those women not arrested. I pointed out to you that if you had read and understood the article which so frightened you that the judge had set the standards for terrorism. I asked whether silly women holding daft bits of paper breach the judge's standards. You do not reply.

Print this out and hang it above your bed for goodness sake.
AOG...

That's not fair. When we did have migration (1950's I'm thinking specifically) over here many black people came and did the jobs that no one in this country wanted to do like working in factories and driving buses for example.

Also how can you take just a diverse group of people and ask what the advantages have been to having them here. Would you say the same about the Irish? Are you going to ask for the advantages of having the polish here? Or do you have to be a certain colour in order to have a list drawn up?
