Has there been any psychological studies done on the effects on people that have been 'sent to Coventry'? Either by their neighbours, friends, work collegues or otherwise.
Thanks in advance...

I've been sent to Coventry by one or two on here before, but I quite enjoyed the journey! ;o}

well coventry itself is quite a miserable place
I went to Coventry once to stay with my Mum's cousin. There was a huge Irish festival on, it was great!x
tut noone takes this place seriously!
I do.x
Mind you, I never did get there! My car broke down on the way & the AA brought me back home again! ;o}
They can't study them, they have all commited suicide.
I just looked up Coventry in the RAC Road Atlas, and it seems to be near Birmingham and has a railway station, but beyond that it doesn't look like somewhere you would go to deliberately.
Oh, I hope I haven't tempted fate - my car's never really broken down before - eeek!
well Lewis carroll may have been
I know several people who work in coventry and there is an "icy" attitude there

Our neighbours moved to Coventry over 30 years ago - they said it was the worse move they'd ever made, but just got on wth it.

They'd still rather be back in South Beds any day!

Dont you guys ever sleep, lol, only posted it 10 mins ago.
Its actualy quiet a serious question. Been having a bit of trouble where I live and I seem to have taken the brunt of it and Im afraid that Im turning into some sort of psycho...
and im not joking. I served time some years ago for violent offences but have seriously sorted my life out since then. (got custody of my son, got a nice home, woman that I love more than anything, good friends, etc) but my head is beginning to crumble with been ignored by people that I once considered my aquaintances (neighbors to be exact) if not actual friends. Ive had a real experiance of how gossip can really f*ck a man up.
I'm deadly serious, I am on the verge of doing something stupid unless I find a way of controlling this. The only thing preventing me at the moment is the thought of my son been taken into care (while I am in prison again) but I know only to well how easy it is to lose your temper in a fit of maddness.
I know its easy to post a jokey reply and ive posted more than my fair share in the past but please only serious answers from now on....thanks guys
Oi mine was academically sound , read it! First reply too, i am gutted now, can't take me seriously when i am being serious!
Oh, sorry wizard, I didn't realise it was that serious & was just following suit.

I've no idea about studies being done, but p'raps you could have a word with your GP if you're thinkin of doing something rash. I'm sure he/she will help you through this.

Please try to ignore the gossip & please don't do anything that will jeapardise your family life, it wouldn't be good for you & certainly not your son.

Chin up.

Dot, I appriciate your reply and I wasnt refering to it when I said about SERIOUS replies, no offence to you at all.
Smudge, no probs. I didnt word my post in a serious way. Was rather hoping for serious replies but not banking on the humour of fellow A.B.ers (silly me)...
BUT... I am seriously in danger of losing it again, hence the question.
(I wont take jokey replies to heart...I NEED humour. God knows it's got me through some bad patches)

and to top it all, my computer's playing up (sh!t piece of cr@p that it is). so will have to come back tomorrow...if im not a guest of her majesty by then. The way things are going, I think I might well be
Any idea what the gossip was about?..must be bad for everyone to ignore you just like that
