Co-Worker Isn't Speaking To Me Because I Can't Make The Christmas 'Do'

My co-worker said I'm mean to pull out of the Christmas 'do'. Well, I didn't pull out, I merely said I can't make the day they've chosen now (I could before, but a hospital appointment has just come through for me) and so I offered 12 other dates when I can make it. They haven't even booked anywhere yet! The organiser can only make one date throughout December and they're going with that! In the meantime my co-worker has sent me to Coventry which I think is incredibly childish. How do I act around her now? Shall I just ignore her too? I suggested we invite one lady at work who spends Christmas alone and lives on her own, but this co-worker doesn't like her and when I suggested asking a part time 70yo part time worker, she said she walks too slow! My friend said this co-worker is controlling and not to let it happen!

Tell them sorry but your hospital appointment is more important. Then invite they lady who lives alone to join you for a meal and the two of you have a nice evening out
