So this bloke Voisy with previous convictions for molesting children and now found guilty of the Kidnap and multiple rape of a little girl whom he later abandoned
naked in an alley, gets a minimum of 10 years. Will the Law never do Justice ?

If an animal, like a dog, attacks someone they are usually put down.
We keep animals that we cannot trust to live peacefully in human society in cages (lions etc).
We have millions of humans in this country and if some continually show that they are not able to live within societies rules then I think we have to get rid of them.

Its does get difficult to understand sentencing sometimes.
The BBC report suggests that he was given 3 life sentences to be served concurrently, with a minimum 10 years to be served.
3 life sentences concurrently means at the same time, doesnt it? So if they all expire at the same time, whats the point of giving 3 life sentences? why not just one?
I am baffled....

The justice system does seem to be a bit of mess at the moment. I read yesterday that one of the chief justices thinks that the system is failing.
Child murder, in particular, is a very emotive subject, but I don't think anything is actually solved by baseball bats or bricks. We have evolved as a society and should know by now, that that kind of thing is just as ineffective as a ten year sentence. But how can any law enforcement agency confer more punitive sentences when it has only a few hundred places left in it's prisons?
I'm fairly sure that a greater number of violent criminals would receive a longer sentence if the re-prioritised the crimes. For example, crimes involving large amounts of money, like large-scale fraud, nearly always result in long sentences. Does this mean that the law and we as a society value money and property more than life?
The same people who call for burglars and muggers to be given custodial sentences should realise that they take up prison space that could be used for more serious criminals.

As someone who went to prison for a long time I can honestly say that a good 80% of the people who were in there really shouldn't have been. A SENSIBLE form of community punishment is much more in order for people unable to pay fines, petty burglars, pick pockets, car theives etc. Prison should be reserved for murder, rape, child molesters and people capable of extreme and unprovoked violence along with large scale drug importers and in those scenarios the sentences should be far more stringent than they are imho, as yes we do send out the message that some clever bloke who manages to defraud Barclays is in some way worse than a man who robs a child of it's innocence, peace of mind and happiness. That is simply not right surely in anyone's book?
The life sentences passed on this unspeakable man are exactly that. If, and that is a very big if, he is ever allowed out of prison it will be on licence which restricts his movements, and renders him liable to instant return to gaol if he steps out of line.
This man is clearly a danger now and will most likely remain so as I doubt if any concerted effort in rehabilitation will be offered. After 10 years he can be considered for parole. He will have to convince some pretty hard boiled prison people before he is allowed to apply, never mind have his case considered by the Parole Board.
I expect he will never be considered and will remain in gaol for his natural. Remember Ian Brady.

its unlikely this scumbag will be out in 10, unless of course he pulls the wool over the eyes of parole people etc, not that difficult by the sounds of it. most of them are bleeding heart do gooder liberals with degrees in social science !.
Its pretty obvious from this blokes record it will never be safe to release him, like many otheres who commit sreious crimes they never rehabilitate, but these do-gooders just wont have it any other way, they would prefer to take the risk and let them out.

hippy, no disrespect, but the point is not whether he will actually ever be released, but that the Judge in this particular case thinks under any circumstances that this man might be fit to release after ten years. It's the minimum recomendation I have an issue with in this case, although it honestly wouldn't surprise me if he was released not long after that.

If being a bleeding heart liberal even puts me in the same league as the father of the lawyer - in the case that has recently been on the news - I am proud and honoured to be one.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone act with such dignity and humility in my life, especially in the face of overwhelming tragedy and grief. To set up a trust to try and prevent this kind of thing happening again - not by punishing the possible offenders but by helping them - shows magnanimity and a tremendous strength of character, that is rare and precious.

Virtually all prison sentences in this country are woefully inadequate but this is so insulting to all decent people that the judge should be sacked.
Seen on crimewatch a few months ago a pair of scumbags who the police had been after for two years were sentenced for beating up elderly people in their own homes and stealing their pension money. One man in his eighties died of a heart attack during the beating.

I think that the general response to this question and the question itself, suggest that children DO matter in this society. The problem, as far as I can see, is with the justice system and the fact that it does not prioritise it's sentences properly.
