Why Police at all?.

Surely, if a criminal injures him/herself while trying to evade arrest, its their own fault, or isn't it. This just has to do with the compensation culture, if it goes ahead, why bother to have a Police Force at all.

If someone is evading arrest then the likelihood is that they're guilty of the offence. If they're guilty then they've waived any rights. So if they fall over that's just tough luck. And while we're on the subject if someone breaks into your house then a similar scenario. No rights therefore you should be able to take whatever action you deem necessary to eject them. They're a potential threat tp you and your family and you should have the right to protect against that threat.
Surely, the chasees should be prosecuted for endangering the lives of the chasers. If the chasees just surrendered, there would be no need to chase.

pity it doesn't work like that, criminals were named outlaws because they worked outside the law. therefore, I say they should not have any chance to use any law there is to escape justice.
