If people keep on handing over 14M, without anyone else in the party knowing, it seems, would you not "hang around" for a while longer???
As long as he know people want him out he'll hang on just to p1$$ them all off!!
He didn't mean that he will stay on beyond the next election - he just mean that he shouldn't have said in advance that he will go before the next election. He thought that it would stop the speculation, but actually it has increased it. I'm not a racist, but I think he will probably retire in late 2007 or early 2008.
Come on Tony go on announce that you will stand for another term. Please please stand for another term. The look on Gordon Browns face will be worth a million donations. Go start another war if you will and i will support it. Please Tony stay on!
If the woman who asked the question had let him reply, we would all know what he was saying.

he will only go when we have a decent opposition to elect into power, forget the tories, new labour stole all their policies and reinvented themselves to get elected.Forget about the lib-dems they are the party of the protest vote, only good for mid term by- elections,

what's the monster raving loony party doing these days? they seem the only sencible option

Monster Raving Looney Party ?

Still here, http://www.omrlp.com/
I think he was saying it was a mistake because it has increased speculation about when he might go, and also fostered claims of "lame duck" etc.

I actually think though that he is aiming to beat Thatchers record as PM, which was around 11 years? If that is his private ambition, that would mean he would need to remain in office until end of 2008ish
If he goes and his party goes who would you put in their place?

You couldn't be stupid enough to suggest we vote the tories back in. Could you?

Thanks guys, I personally think he should gao as soon as possible, I know we all have different perspectives, but I think he's all but ruined this country, almost to the point of 'no return', if we haven't reached it already.

As to who would take his place, unfortunately, (, and I normally lean towards the Tories), we don't have a politician of any stature at the moment. I really don't know.

I'm here, putting mesaages on answerbank
I am not sure when he will go, as far as he is concerned, he has nothing to worry about until 2008. Because look at the opposition- Cameron, not very convincing and he also hasn't won the support of the majority of the voters. And as for Brown, he's already made a mess of the economy, do you really want to see if he can run the whole country into the ground too?

So as much as I hate to say it, God help us, but Blair may stay... for a while, yet.
