Stop considering.  Just do it.

Too late, they already trashed the economy.

well if that's true gromit then I'm sure you'll agree not to trash it any further.

Touché TTT

Excellent news, about time. The eco loons will have a meltdown but just ignore them.

They should reconsider the net zero nonsense too. Aims are all very well, but that seems to be taken as compulsory at any cost, which is ludicrous. What more we can do is next to nothing compared to what some other nations are not bothering to do.

"We cannot possibly make any difference"

poor helpeless wee sovereign Britain, nothing we can do about anything...

We have control 0.0016% of the worlds carbon jno. Forget net zero, actual zero would make no difference. In this area yes we are indeed "helpless".

China produces a lot more, of course, but that's because so many first world countries get their manufacturing done there. Britain (and much of the west) export their carbon emissions to China, then upbraid it for producing them.

Question Author

Yes jno, how is that relevant to our lack of emmissions?

"Altar"?

Germany's efforts have done them the world of good

Wait, whilst I get on my phone for the next bit 😐

Ah, think tanks eh. Never wrong, them.

Election strategy yes...common sense.. never.

The PM has finally realised that his eco-nonsense is electoral suicide.

The Tories are probably looking at damage limitation - when they lose, this is one less club for people to batter them with.

Don't be so sure they'll lose.  This is a vote winner.

Well he had little choice.  The Sun (who infuence the floaters) has been banging on about this for a while.

The whole thing needs putting to bed and a proper achievable strategy for the next 50 years needs to be put in place.  And it needs to start with the infrastructure and be affordable.  As I nhave said many times on here it is unacceptable to make the poor pay for this virtue signalling.

As I have also said many times I think we should move away from 'climate change/warming/whatever) and move to improve polution, something that can be measured without quible.

jno is correct though, IMHO any imports should have a figure attached to them that is applied to the receiving country in their calcualtion of Net whatever.

//Don't be so sure they'll lose.  This is a vote winner.//

If he sorts the boat people out maybe.  Otherwise it will be a hung parliament.

naomi - // Don't be so sure they'll lose.  This is a vote winner. //

It will, but they need a lot more than this.

The NHS, the boats crisis, the ecconomy, and so on, I think they need a miracle to get in again.

What will help is that people trust Starmer and Labour even less, but that may not be enough to swing things for them.
