Whilst I acknowledge our police inability to deal with rape and the victims fear of being'typecast' .this type of action should not be allowed unless there is proof that the victim has sought police intervention.

Danni Minnouge is calling him a vile predator who would not take no for an answer.

why did she not report it, she was in her time very well known had a very high profile sister people would have listened.

until the police confirm there is a case to answer I will continue to believe innocent until found otherwise

Try that second link of SP again, Red, if you want a reason why Dannii Minogue behaved as she did ...

Who is that woman? And seriously do you think I am going to take notice of someone posting potential reputation damaging gossip on TikTok

It's the argument, not who is saying it. A bit like me ... or you.

To reiterate

Why were the BBC and C4 silent about the accusations for so long?

Why did they give him more and more work?

Why were the BBC and CH4 silent on the accusations for so long?

because they weren't made. The Times began their investigation a year ago and didn't inform other media outlets until the story was published.

That woman is expressing her opinion (like everyone on this thread) and makes a valid point about Brand's audience and his attacks on the MSM.

Question Author

Did you watch dispatches, sp?

Here's a Times link  that isn't in a paywall ...

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/29b3651a-554a-11ee-9ad7-7384b2f230c5

Interesting ... contains a verbatim text message conversation where "the US phone number that Brand used to send the messages has been verified by multiple sources."

That Times link is behind a paywall for me

Oh, I must just be lucky. It says at the top "You are reading this article for free.

You haven't watched it have you, sp.

fender - // ... as for rape accusations, i doubt it, it's a money grab, late in the day to say it, plus there's nothing to him pysically..im an older gent and for a fact, he a skinny weakling to me. //

If you believe that a rapist has to rely on superior physical strength in order to carry out hi crime, then I suggest you don't know very much about how rape actually works.

fender - // barry1010 , doubt he had to rape anyone, women threw themselves at his obnoxious self ... //

Once again you demonstrate your ignorance of the reasons for rape.

Rape is not about sex, it's about violent control and assault.

roy - // I've never liked Brand's humour but if you listen to it you will know exactly the type of bloke he is...why any self respecting woman would go near him is puzzling. //

That presuposes that the public persona of Russel Brand is what he is away from the cameras and microphones.

Entertainment is about creating and evolving a persona, a 'version' of the individual hugely exagerated in order to appeal to an audience.

Take Roy 'Chubby' Brown' as an example - the caricature he presents when performing in stage is doubtless nothing whatever like who he is with his wife and family - he couldn't maintain that image 24/7, he'd have a heart attack!

Any famous person in any walk of entertainment is presenting an image of themselves for the duration of their time in public view, and then they revert to being themselves, someone who is often so different from their 'public face' as to be unrecogniseable.

Question Author

Russel Brand unlike Chubby isn't playing a character.

Anyway...https://x.com/piersmorgan/status/1704808395658727715?s=20

Piers Morgan is in no way a fan of Russell Brand but I congratulate him on that tweet.  He's absolutely right.

roy - // Russel Brand unlike Chubby isn't playing a character. //

I would suggest that he is - because anyone in the public eye, in however small a capacity, does play a character.

I am an example.

Ss you may know, I work as a Guest Speaker on cruise liners, presenting Talks about popular music.

When I am in my 'Speaker' persona, I wear a suit, which I never do elsewhere, I wear signature seriously loud-patterened shirts, which again I do not wear elsewhere, I speak far more slowly and carefully than I do away from a microphone, and when I converse with guests around the ship, I am very careful about what I say about absolutely anything, giving away no personal information, and nothing about my opinions on the ship or the line to which it belongs.

That, in a very small way, is an example of the creation of a public persona.

If you expand that to any famous person, on television, films, etc., it is clear that they are presenting a 'character' that is entirely for public consumption.

Of course it has elements of the person concerned, but as I have advised, these are altered, exagerated, or minimised, to suit the circumstance.

For that reason, I beleive that Mr Brand's peculiarly irritating  'Dickensian villain' style of speech that he uses on camera, is probably nothing like the way he speaks when away from it in the comfort and privacy of the company of family and friends.

Oh, so "I was playing a persona" is a defence for criminal behaviour now is it?

You couldn't make it up.
