Do the likes of Russell Brand, do anything to foster good relations with the US?

Or should he be made to opologise?

I thought his performance was both embarrassing and bad mannered.

What a storm in a tea cup.

He was booked by MTV. The company he's been employed by, sacked from and then re-employed by. So they knew what they were getting.

Has it backfired? Well, we're talking about it aren't we? Thus, MTV is made to look leftfield and alternative. Bingo.

Were people offended? Not really no. The people who didn't like it were the Jonas Brothers, a Disney Channel freakshow of staggeringly saccherine wholesomeness. And if you think I'm being harsh, look them up and get back to me. Are they Brand's target audience? I don't think so. Are middle American Republicans? Errr.... nope. Are Daily Mail readers? He's a promiscuous former drug abuser who uses bad language and has an off-kilter fashion sense - not exactly Gareth Gates is he?

Were others in the auditorium genuinely offended? Unlikely. But are they going to laugh their heads off with a TV camera in their face while live pictures are beamed into the homes of Republican potential record-buyers? Don't be silly.

So basically this is a non-story about the views of a few MTV message board critics. Hardly representative of either most Ameircans or most MTV viewers. And if you're asking whether this has embarrassedd Brand (or the UK) in the US media, think again. He's been the darling of the US talk show circuit. Because he's very articulate and very clever.

Not to everyone's taste though. But I don't see Shane Ritchie or the Krankies ripping it up stateside.

Anyway, carry on. :-)
Because he's very articulate and very clever.

He uses big words. There's a difference.
