This afternoon I have listened to 40 minutes of horns blaring non-stop and a stunt plane buzzing my house, adding to the cacophony. Traffic jams in every direction. As I live close to a very large crematorium and graveyard such noise is unusual.

A gypsy funeral, they don't believe in going quietly. They even involved the neighbours - throwing beer over parked vehicles from the backs of their trucks. Thankfully I live in a cul-de-sac.

Anything happening in your neighbourhood today?

No, thank goodness...but there's always the weekend.
Usually the only time it's noisy here is when events are held at the local sports centre or there's a rugby match...depends which way the wind is blowing.
Old Buckenham Air Show just a couple of miles away this weekend so lots of vintage aircraft buzzing around. Local roads all got cones on to stop traffic parking to watch.
if the wind is in the right direction we also hear the motor racing at Snetterton.
gypsies?
well at least they didnt shoot anyone
or throw their hats in the air and shoot them ( chicano really)
or crap in your garden

According to my local snoop group, I mean Neighbourhood Watch, they were spraying pedestrians with beer, too.

Miles and miles of cones out every year for the Cosworth Air Show because so many people want to watch for free.
Thanks to Sadiq, I now live in a low Traffic noise zone. Not only is there no noise, all traffic has been rerouted back to the main roads causing endless traffic jams!!!!

They give with one hand and take with the other
Nothing today, but tomorrow it’s the village fete, a very traditional one held on the village green and always well attended.
Different groups have different ways of announcing good news.
Question Author
I do love a proper village fete, I still have fond memories of when Lulu opened our church fete in the 60s
I live in a close of 14 bungalows for the elderly most of who/whom have come to live here for the peace and quiet.
The only traffic we see is when it's someone's funeral, and there are no travellers here, so, it's still very quiet.
Though I live near the city centre, it's very quiet here too. I'm in a u-shaped group of 3 blocks of maisonettes...and there are several closes (?) opposite. Beyond them is a large park. There will be a bit more 'noise' now...kids playing. There used to be monthly fetes or fairs in the park, plus a dog show during the summer...but the pandemic caused much of that to fizzle out. A shame really.
Question Author
Hopefully those fetes and shows will be revived if there's an appetite for them. Fairs round here are mostly antique, food and craft type, not a tombola or waggiest dog in sight.

Whatever happened to jumble sales? eBay and charity shops, I suppose. Times they are a-changing
I don't think anyone can beat this. Next to my house is a lane 50 metre in length leading to the village (catholic) church & nowhere else. When I just returned to my house, in it were in it two dressed nuns playing tennis !
Question Author
Thank the Lord they were dressed! :)
Khandro, there were 2 nuns playing tennis in your house?
barry, "unfrocked" nuns - how would anyone know their calling? ;)
Question Author
They might make a habit of it.
Very quiet around my end, I live on a Cul-de sac. Just Children happily playing outside. Checked on neighbours empty place nothing much, Passed tense four month ago. Nothing doing.
I knew as I posted I should have re-phrased it :0) though if I'd said 'habits' it would have been as bad, I'll say they were in their work clothes.

It wasn't real tennis, the had no net, but they were knocking tennis balls to one another with racquets. I applauded them & doffed my hat, to which they both laughed. - nice exchange.
