I swore my allegiance to "Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the second, her heirs and successors" when i was in the army, so i suppose i've already done so. I'm still dithering on whether or not to accept the invitation to the ceremony. I'm told that Chas has invited me because he doesn't want to be the only one wearing a Burnley FC shirt on the day.

Ich; "William's Villa shirt may be mistaken for a Burnley one too."

Funny you should say that, Ich. Back in the day, Villa commissioned a Video to be made to commemorate something or other. Many of these videos were sold before someone realised that it wasn't a photograph of Aston Villa on the front cover, but Burnley FC - resplendent in their Claret and Blue shirts:-) Needless to say, the videos were recalled and the correct photograph applied.
I've tried to find a report on it but to no avail.
I imagine they'd be collectors' items now, Ken? Like stamps printed upside down.
Naomi, you'd be better off saving that seat for someone else. If i do attend, mine's a front row seat :-)
^ Hmmm ... hobnobber! ;o)
A joke surely . ?
I still haven't sworn allegiance to Joe Biden...the King can wait.
Yes
we had a History teacher who was a German refugee
He taught us the fealty ceremony ( Very Germanic) of the feudal knights in the Holy Roman Empire

( kneel in front of the King and make a four-sandwich with the hands, and then swear)

and it seems very natural
at the very least we could all join the Church of England in the hope that he'd pop by occasionally on a sunny Sunday, anne.

Ay will dedicate may life to your service....

can you imagine the Great Leader of the Land of the Free saying that ( er and meaning it) - POTUS that is !

oh god or the awful Harry- it takes an act of faith
An interesting invitation. It certainly makes you think ...

Luckily there is no RSVP.
Not a kn chance!
re writing stuff
yeah I felt sorry ( he does have a degree) when he thought he would be able to change the oath he swore on becoming King.

er no - you can only do that if you are King and you arent yet

and so we see Reader that he cd change it for Wills, but Wills may not like the inclusion of plants, seaweed and aboriginies in Oz being added to the oath
far better to have it unchanged
But you can - - - rewrite it
Last monarch to be crowned in Latin was..... Elizabeth. She cdnt find a bishop (left over from Mary I) to consecrate / anoint her in English.
She set about deposing them quickest.

Edward we have not been told, ( VI - the sixf, and by the end he was pretty sick) extensively re wrote the coronation service in English and that is the one now used - - 1016 Edw the confessor and then revised by a King - You can imagine my lord, his grace the archibishop of Canterbury ( + Cantuar for short)
saying, "chrissakes your maj. you dont want to add - mushrooms and fungi " to the divine script of your saintly predecessor" ( do you)

yeah and Chazza saying " as you said wiv Di my first god awful wife, we havent made saints for 500 y"

and his grace, like greased lightning - a Yorkie he calls it, returns
"precisely my point, your majesty, it is a time past"

carry on Abers - lunch soon
go for it
//Public asked to swear allegiance to King Charles//

You got to be joking -why on earth would I want to do that ?
becaue the Stasi know where you live, Bazile
09.29 So you did your two years at RAF Skelton also.
No.
I like Charles, I'm glad we have a monarchy, but I can't say I have any enthusiasm about the coronation. I shall watch it for the pagentry and all the arrivals and ladies outfits!
I don't have any problems about the chorus. But I won't be joining in!
The coronation will centre around Meghan and Harry. They will find a way , where the focus will be about them. Of that I have no doubt .
It’s a great soap opera .
