Bbc License Fee Rise
the brass neck of an outdated entertainment license system, let it stand on it's own, end the license fee, we all know there is a plethora of (choice) entertainment out there, i do not watch anything bbc anymore,

Cheapest and best channel. For me it’s hyper good value.
It’ll be £172 a year (£14.33) a month. For the number of channels available, plus radio, plus iPlayer plus their sport and news coverage - I think it’s a bargain.
The rise this year is especially steep because the fee has been frozen for the past couple of years.
But I get why this must infuriate some people. It must be like being forced to pay for Fox News even though you never watch it and despise everything it stages for.

I think your problem may be that your television [i]can[\i] receive BBC broadcasts which means you have to pay a licence…but surely there should be a way round this if you don’t watch the channel.

There should be but there isn't. The requirement for a TV Licence is determined by you having a device on which you can watch or record any TV channel via any platform, as it is broadcast. It does not matter whether your TV is capable of receiving BBC or not. Even if it isn't, you still need a licence.
As you say, it's like having to pay to produce the Daily Telegraph when you only read The Sun.

But it’s not true now. You need a licence if your device is capable of receiving broadcasts from *any* live TV service (e.g. Sky, Virgin, Freeview, Freesat).
If you watch live on streaming services (e.g. ITVX, All 4, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Now, Sky Go) you also need a licence.
I assume that part of the licence pays for infrastructure and maintenance - that all the above channels make use of?

See my post at 16.09. I know where you’re coming from. Even if Fox were the greatest channel in the world it would drive he made that I had to pay for it. Same with TalkTV and GB News, but I now think that you’re not just paying for the BBC - you’re also paying for infrastructure.

£3.30 a week for everything the BBC offers - what fantastic value.
With no annoying adverts, that alone is worth something.
No one can like everything the BBC offers, but there is plenty of programmes to like, including great drama.
For those who think the BBC is full of left wing followers, wait until Labour gets in, then people will think the Corporation is full of right wingers. The party in power will attract opposing views. That's the way it's always been.
