Jesus wept - who agrees this is absurd?

And why the hell is the Mail referring to somebody with a penis who rapes women as 'her'?

In his most recent Netflix special, Ricky Gervais had a routine about this very scenario, which was hilarious because it was so absurd. Paraphrasing "He raped me", "you mean she raped you", "but he had a penis", "she had a penis you effing bigot". But clearly it wasn't that absurd after all!

Zebu, but that's exactly what you're doing. By insisting that this creature be referred to as a woman you're tarring him with the same brush as the rest. He is a man - and a violent one.
zebu: "Inspite of all prejudice, why would you tar with the same brush all those men who are trying very hard to lead a normal life, but happen now to identify as women? " - because 99.9% of the time they are attention seekers at best or opportunists at worst, taking advantage of a gullible simple minded fools that go along with this old pony.
Zebu, perhaps you'd like to have a go at my post:

//However, if Zebra identifies as a Zebu, here at the sanctuary we are told it is out of common courtesy and politeness the pronoun wishes of an individual are adhered to.//

Where do I fit in? Can I choose today's pronoun?

I now realise why the Germans have Er, Sie, Es, the latter for those who want to change.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if some of the women inmates decide to give him a penectomy, free of charge of course.
// Zebu, but that's exactly what you're doing //

What I am doing is to point out that transgender people, on top of the normal complications that life throws up at us all, are faced every day with issues and struggles ordinary folk simply cannot or will not try to understand. Therefore they too are deserving of rights to protect them.

When a heterosexual person commits a heinous crime, there ensues the inevitable rebuke and scathing of that individual - And rightly so.

Subsequently we do not go out and tear up the book of human rights.

Let the law takes its course. Should this rapist be sentenced to thirty years there will be no complaints from me.

However whilst she is under the auspices of HM prison regime, it is only right she be addressed in a manner she is a accustomed to.

How else do you expect to reform a person if we cannot in the very least, lend ourselves to behave in a civil way towards them?
// because 99.9% of the time they are attention seekers //

And your medical qualifications are?
Have you seen the picture if the bloke? He's got a Mike Tyson tat on his boat for gawd sake!
// Germans have Er, Sie, Es, //

Apparently Mx is now the accepted norm here in the UK.
Zebu, no one has suggested that transgender people shouldn't have rights. The problem is that all-embracing people like you are so wrapped up in the issue you can't see the wood for the trees. This is a man - a 'he'.
ZebuSanctuary: Mx does seem to be commonly used, especially within the medical field. I think the idea of that title being used, say at the doctor's surgery, is to make it easier when it comes to making sure that certain patients don't get called in for things that don't apply to them - for example, someone who is trans female with the title Mx wouldn't get called in for a cervical screening. At least that is what I've been told any way.
Based on the close-fitting clothing that the accused is wearing in the link photos, it would be difficult to convince most viewers that he is not a man, regardless of how he would like to be addressed.

What I find deeply disturbing, from the link, is his legal counsel's assertion that because he is due to complete transition, then that may be used as a basis to acquit him of the charges.

Does the counsel wish to imply that because he is now legally a woman, he is no longer responsible for the crimes he committed when he was a man?

That will be massive comfort to anyone who wants to go out and murder twenty strangers as a Satanist, and then convert to Christianity as a legal swerve to avoid the consequences!

That is surely making a mockery of the premise of freedom of identity in order to escape legal sanction for a crime.
Zebu: "because 99.9% of the time they are attention seekers"
You missed off the rest of the sentence:
"because 99.9% of the time they are attention seekers at best or opportunists at worst, taking advantage of a gullible simple minded fools that go along with this old pony. " - is what I said.
The main reason for not allowing Sturgeon's absurd proposal to pass into law, is that the London police officer, Carrick who has pleaded guilty to 24 counts of rape could under it, declare himself to be now a so-called transgender woman (as could anyone) & avoid going to a man's prison.
Too right AH.

Of course the 'right on' above wont agree with you.
And that Khandro is what people like Zebru cant seem to understand.
Khandro - // The main reason for not allowing Sturgeon's absurd proposal to pass into law, is that the London police officer, Carrick who has pleaded guilty to 24 counts of rape could under it, declare himself to be now a so-called transgender woman (as could anyone) & avoid going to a man's prison. //

That circumstance is not the same as this one - the accused is already in the process of transition.

It would be ludicrous for any criminal to simply switch gender in order to avoid prosecution and conviction, and hopefully not even out sometimes bizarre legal systems have reached, or would reach, that stage.
Yes AH but I think at the very least switching could get the perp in a women's nick much easier for a bloke to do time there.
//It would be ludicrous for any criminal to simply switch gender in order to avoid prosecution and conviction//

Correct, but the way we are going that could well happen which is why the brakes need to be put on and some common sense used.
one solution to men in women's prisons when they are transitioning would be give them what they want and cut off their bits asap. This is said somewhat jokingly and flippant, but you can bet there would be uproar from the trans community.
Why do we not see similar issues or calls for equality from women wanting to transition to men
