Your xenophobia knows no bounds - you’re comparing apples with oranges.
A major infrastructure project involving incredibly complex civil engineering to bring relief to an overburdened transport system in the most important city in the country, compared to the incompetency, overruns and over budget of building a couple of boats cannot be compared.
'Incredibly complex' is one of those shorthand phrases that means 'don't tell them what it'll actually cost or we won't get the work, we can bump them later'.
fair question. The Elizabeth Line people knew they were massively over budget and just didn't tell anyone. Bond St alone was something like 500% over budget.
Moral: if something's running off the rails, rename it after the monarch, then people will speak in such hushed tones about it that nobody will dare accuse anyone of robbing the public purse.
