I join with others in being most skeptical that we will 'need' to rejoin the EU.
The only way I would ever consider voting to rejoin, would be if the terms were entirely on the basis of trade agreements, as they were when the UK joined the EEC as it was then, and we are not sucked into serfdom under a federalist state where unelected officials have way over UK law.
And what terms would you be saying that on? You do realise should we ever attempt it the terms would not be the same as we had at all and would undoubtedly mean more money paid in, to join the EUR and surrender the City to FFT.
Since there is not even one chance in infinity we would ever need to rejoin the EU, the question isn't valid.
Being sane and thus voting to regain our lost sovereignty in the past referendum, one can deduce what my vote would be should inexplicably some government ever hold such a waste of our public money.
I think you need to ask yourself this: if the UK had never been a member of the EU, would it be clamouring to join now? I think the answer would be a resounding "no". It is only because many people have become so used to "belonging" to something that they feel the need to continue. EU membership was not particularly beneficial to the UK and in some respects it was downright harmful. Just because it's there is no reason to be keen to join.
I think it was inevitable that we would leave as soon at the French and Germans decided to move towards economic and political union. Staying in would have become more uncomfortable the longer we had stayed in. Out, and staying out.
