Funny old world. The poor little girls who were groomed by older men in Rochdale and similar enclaves didn't seem to elicit such sympathy from our pious would-be social influencers. there are no moral requirements to being a British citizen (or subject, whatever the correct terminology is) so the crimes committed by shamima begum should not be relevant to whether or not she has citizenship...
it seems to me that theresa may's government saw a chance for the uk to wash its hands of a uk citizen who had done something terrible and dump her on someone else. i do not think this is defensible

it's also irrelevant whether or not a 15 year old "should" know right from wrong... it's obvious that she didn't...
i cannot find much information on her upbringing prior to leaving but considering she was willing to go and be a sex slave for some horrid butcher i think we can safely assume that she was an extremely damaged person by the time she was 15... it is not the kind of thing you would expect a young person unfamiliar with sex (or rape) to do...
unfortunately people who have been treated like crap by the world very often turn into extremely unpleasant people and in turn sometimes do horrible things themselves... it doesn't make it right of course but shamima begum is very often what trafficked abused and damaged people actually look like...

she was "granted" british citizenship on the grounds that she was born here ladycg....
i don't know if she still has bangladeshi citizenship but bangladesh must be a country that allows descendants born abroad to claim citizenship... i don't know if she or her parents claimed it though or if she got it by default...

There are some truly nasty remarks on here. Because something is observed, without possible emotion, does not mean the person observing that has no feelings. No one has any idea what this child was put through before and after being what was little more than abducted and placed with the Taliban, with the help of the Canadian Secret Service. I suppose in a situation where you are being raped, giving birth to children who die, and forced to see things no one would ever want to see, maybe your emotions become dimmed, you zone out for the sake of survival. It takes a long time to recover from this sort of thing.
