For those who believe this is OK, it is costing the taxpayer £2bn a year. And that’s just for hotel accommodation. It does not include the migrants’ living expenses and support they require. Hotels are cancelling bookings, weddings and other functions. Guests and staff are being evicted. Although they may make a quick buck, some of them will probably never recover. The towns in which they are situated will suffer – hotel guests spend more in the local economy than migrants do. The towns are unlikely to attract many paying guests when it is known that some hotels a full with asylum seekers. Yes, I know – people should not be so prejudicial, but they are and that will only get worse as the problem worsens.
I simply fail to see how anybody in their right mind can defend any of this.

You're either being naive or obtuse, corby. These deals the government has concluded do not include catering. Hotels employ quite a lot of catering staff. Many also employ additional staff for weddings and functions. Asylum seekers do not usually hold £100 a head weddings (though I imagine there will soon be calls for them to be able to do so). The government is not going to pay for facilities the migrants will not use. As I have demonstrated (with the Blazing Donkey) it is still costing £500 per week per migrant - and that's quite enough. These establishments will be run more like hostels than hotels and hostels do not require the same level of staffing as hotels.

Canary42, as far as im concerned, they are parasites and need removing without recourse to the law, how many are clandestine jihadists or supporters, how many have criminal records, how many need medical attention, how many want demand housing and a stipend ie benefits, oh it's all free money we dont have, guess your not worried about any of the above problems, you must live in a paradise bubble.
