Only 44 days in power , but she could already get upto £115k for life, could she really stick the knife in and recommend a number of her cronies for honours, in her resignation honours list. Would she be allowed one?

Don't think it's for life. It's a one-off. Nevertheless, it's disgraceful.
The £115,000 is just possible expenses that an ex PM can claim for an office and staff.

I can't see her needing to claim.
Hop: Think you'll find that it's one-off payment. Could be wrong.
Hop: 'I can't see her needing to claim'. She's an accountant, as is her husband. Take it from me she'll take every penny she can.
Whatever she's allowed to do she will do. That's true of all of us isn't it?

I should clarify. As she has only been 44 days in power, is she entitled to reward her cronies with honours, as PM's usually have an honours list when they resign. 44 days seems far to short to allow that.
Paigntonian, I think it's per year. But it's more like expenses than a handout, and really nobody's ever queried what her predecessors have claimed.
she resigned, so I guess so, barney, though why PMs should be allowed to spray peerages around when they leave office is beyond me. We haven't seen Boris's list yet.
You wait for one resignation honours list, and then two two come along together.
Peers all round.
If it's in the rules she can do it. 'Should' doesn't come in to it, and probably should, but won't.
jno: Couldn't agree more. The honours system is a sick joke.
Perhaps Truss could enoble Boris then he couldn't become PM again. Yes, he could disavow his new stature but it would take at least a year. Would be fun.
Sunak gets his 100 parliamentary supporters.
isn’t rewarding cronies the point of resignation honours?
It's an odd country we live in right enough.
This £115k per year for life was created for Thatcher and her husband was an extremely man, she certainly was never in need of the money.
If she actually does exercise the option to submit a list it’ll only serve as another stick with which to beat the Conservatives and the whole system.
It’ll be a mark of her stupidity and questionable integrity if she supplies a list.
"And what did you do during the 45 day reign of Pseudothatch that earned you a resignation honour?" asked an ordinary man in the street.

Surely the sludge in the barrel of offal and excreta.
