BRING BACK BORIS! Penny is still my choice of the rest but it now seems a real possibility that Boris could return. He's the only real big hitter and the party and the country need him back.

Gulliver I think you’ve done Boris a massive favour after all, keeping his name alive since he even took the PM job and after,so I guess it’s a thank you for this, we conservative voters will be forever in your debt

Poor old gully! Boris returns, wins 2024 election, Rodders gets the order of the boot, Labour breach half a century without an election win. Look on the bright side gully you have at least another 7 years to snipe at the tories.
As someone on the BBC Comments said:

Imagine wanting the bloke who lied to the Queen back?

And yet some have the audacity to question others about loyalty to their country? What a disgrace that Brady is even allowing his name to be mooted.

B.S @ 10,10 "Boris is 53% ahead".....ahead of what ? do you mean he is 53% ahead of the next Tory PM to get the chop.
How many nails do you need to secure the con coffin? They just keep on banging them in. The lid is now splitting. :0)
Boris Johnson's popularity was already declining before he was ousted... he might not be the sure-fire winner that people think he is
The fence hoppers are back. :0)
Aww pimps, I’d love to see the real you, go on you know you wanna ;0))))
10.29 Never knew they had Conservative Radicalisation schools at Newcastle.
or Gateshead even. Keep wearing those blinkers and looking down that tunnel of vision. haha.
// Boris is on holiday at Mar-a-Lago //

when did Mar-a-Lago get moved from Florida to the Caribbean, Gulliver?
Sort of gully, party pubs:)0
That’s not very nice Gulliver, I was thanking you , but as it happens Newcastle have a large Irish Centre , a Polish Centre and a Chinese quarter and Gateshead has a very large orthodox Jewish community , haven’t heard of a Radicalisation centre yet, I might Google that ;0))
He has to get 100 votes from MPs to be eligible.

His own MPs sent letters, voted against him and resigned in large numbers just 6 weeks ago. Will he get enough support ?

The 1922 Committee knew that, and don’t want Boris back, so they have fixed the rules to try and prevent him standing.
they haven't fixed the rules to prevent him from standing gromit... they fixed them to try and prevent it lasting as long as the previous contest

though many in the party hate him with good reason there are also loyalists... i don't think he will struggle to get 100 mps
I did point out this irony some months ago when he was still clinging on.
Seems the skeletons are emerging:

/Ukraine deletes tweet featuring meme of Boris Johnson
Amid mounting speculation Boris Johnson may attempt to return as prime minister following Liz Truss's resignation, the official Twitter account of Ukraine's government posted a tweet that appeared to be supportive of the former leader.
Mr Johnson is popular in Kyiv for his backing of the country in its war with Russia's invading forces.
However, the meme based on Netflix series Better Call Saul and posted by the @Ukraine account triggered a significant backlash, with some even pointing to the Uxbridge MP's alleged links with Russian figures including Evgeny Lebedev - newspaper owner and son of ex-KGB agent Alexander.
Evgeny Lebedev was made a lifelong peer in the House of Lords during Mr Johnson's tenure as PM. /

Oh I do so wish he wins!
The division in the party is immense, he already has double the votes of Mordaunt! PMSL
Gromit, //His own MPs sent letters, voted against him and resigned in large numbers just 6 weeks ago. Will he get enough support ? //

Beth Rigby of Sky News tweeted this:

//Even MPs who resigned from his govt were on terrace y’day telling colleagues they’d now back him & members definitely will”//

Johnson still has a parliamentary inquiry hanging over him. If he lied to parliament (which he surely did), then he can be suspended.
PM suspended wouldn’t exactly be a vote winner and the 1922 know that.

If a Commons ban is more than 10 days, a by election can be forced in his Uxbridge seat. Reigning PM fights by election is another scenario that the party managers would be eager to avoid.
