BBC have just reported (via headlines so no link) that the Government may scale back the energy support scheme.
Not everyone has yet to start receiving this support so do we think this is a good idea or should they continue with it as the Prime Minister promised it to all?

Well you all wanted this to happen (Truss and & to not regen the country) so why are you moaning now?
Typical of a lack of support from Truss.
:-)
Rabbits in headlights ..... :o)
Continue with it.
blame your 5C buddies love, they got what they wanted.
//The government's Energy Price Guarantee was originally put in place for two years - to limit the price that suppliers could charge for each unit of energy.

Now that will be limited to six months, just to cover this winter. The Treasury will review support given from April, but Mr Hunt said there would be "a new approach" targeting those in the most need.//
Wait and see what they come up with before condemning it.

Lol is that the best you have TTT - what happened to your love affair with Truss?
Who is 5C and who are my buddies?

lankeela - I do not see anyone condemning it? A question was asked.
It is foolhardy to borrow even more money on top of the hundreds of £billions we have already borrowed for the pandemic.
They should levy a windfall tax on energy producers.
Increase VAT to 20% for 12 months (breaking an election pledge)
Cut the support from £69 to £50.

Here is the report from the DM...

We have just had our first £66 refund. £91 electricity bill from OVO one day followed by refund the next day. I'm surprised that it was done like this. I can't see how they can change things when the refunds are already taking place. It's going to be a dreadful muddle if they do.
The refunds will continue up to April next year.
No change till next April & we didn't know what was going to happen after that anyway (?). I don't see it as a "scaling back" at all. Fake news.
I agree Dave. All I know is the payments continue until April. I also know that both of us will get £250 later for Winter fuel combined with something else. I have had already had £150 for disability. And I learned this week there will probably be a £100 off our next oil bill. After that who knows. But I don't expect anything else and will budget accordingly. I feel very lucky actually.
