That's unexpected. One might think that Putin's tyranical rule wasn't popular with all Russians. Surely not. Not that such government cares a darn over the needs of the peasants.
In a town in Irkutsk a man walked up to the desk and shot an official dead.
I’ve just been looking at it!

In Dagestan, the opposition party in the republic threatened to close all federal roads unless jailed refuseniks were released. At least a few had been as of last night.
In Yakutsk, republic of Sakha-Yakutia, locals chanted Yakut nationalist slogans.
In a probably unrelated incident there’s been a shooting at a school in Izhevsk, capital of Udmurtia, with at least 5 children dead.
And one of Abramovic’s huge steel plants has burned down. Again probably unrelated.
The danger for Putin is that now people will feel it’s safer to protest than be sent to die in Ukraine.
The chap who murdered the recruitment official was heard to say that he preferred prison.
The governor of Dagestan summoned to Moscow.
Could it possibly be that the Russian people see this war for what it is,land grabbing and not a threat from the west?
For most it’s out of self interest.
An understandable desire not to “join the Moskva” as the saying now goes.
Putin is trying to frame this as a defensive war by claiming imminently that occupied Ukraine is now part of Russia. I cannot see how that will work

The recruitment project is doomed; Putin knows as much about modern warfare as my Aunt fanny. He's still holds the WW1 perspective that sending in thousands of (in this case) untrained men to be mowed down or blown to smithereens over & over again will somehow lead to a victorious outcome.

Meanwhile the coward hides behind huge desks in the Kremlin, a very long way from the battles & danger.
More likely there are mixed opinions but most believing it's justified, (due to control of the news that they are allowed to see/hear) but that it's not worth the cost that's being forced on them.
Meanwhile in Izhevsk the tragic death toll rises: from the BBC:

“A video posted online by the investigative committee shows the gunman lying dead on the floor wearing a T-shirt with a Nazi symbol.”

Nazi? How long before they claim he’s Ukrainian?
Russia’s Patriarch Kirill has said “dying in Ukraine washes away all sin”

That should do the trick then :-)
Meanwhile somewhere on Russia a kid does an accurate impersonation of Putin …

i can't say i know much about russia but my understanding was that the regime had enough people willing to tolerate it or even support it because it had provided stability...

if there's any truth to it then he's lost all that

That is horrific; how could someone watch & film that happening?
it's ok - no animals were harmed!
“That is horrific; how could someone watch & film that happening?”

Exactly what I was thinking
You're right, Khandro. He should be leading his men from the front, on that rather nice white horse of his if he must show off, like all the other Presidents do.
Partisans in Luhansk already blew up a train of new recruits
