I used to think the world was advancing but when you consider the Republicans in America, the Brazilian government, and now this from Hungary, it clearly isn't.

Horrendous.

//The government, led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, has offered significant tax breaks and subsidies for families that have multiple children in an attempt to boost the country's declining fertility rate//
Meanwhile in the real world, over population is threatening our future.
sounds idyllic to have a few Albanians drop by.....
I used to think the world was advancing

this was the whig view of history - ever onward and upward
C19 - AJP Taylor rather put the knife in
1914 certainly wasnt an advance. The war to end all wars - didnt.
Iron Curtain didnt liberate the countries

so no - - History has shown that it is NOT always onward and upward
I accept that people have very polarised views over abortion but I think that to force someone to undergo an unwanted abortion or to obstruct a woman from choosing to have an abortion is a very cruel act.

Women don't make the decision to abort a child lightly, so for someone to put obstacles like this in their way makes the whole experience so much worse.

I feel that we are in no position to criticise other countries stance on abortion in light of Northern Ireland, where abortion wasn't decriminalised until 2019 and didn't become lawful until 2020.
at least we're going in the other direction, barry
im also not sure what the actual on the ground situation is like in NI for women seeking abortion. It may be legal, but can women actually get them?
We are
Yes they can, bednobs. Amnesty International has campaigned since 2014 to get the law changed and will take up the baton for any woman refused a legal abortion in NI. The government didn't give in lightly.
