Now and again I sometimes need a rubber band and end up hunting the house down for one, so today while out and about I bought a packet.

Can someone explain why I need to be warned?
This is what it says on the rear of the pack. ( WARNING) Product contains natural latex) Please keep the packaging for future reference.
Stupid or what?

I believe some people are allergic to latex, hence the warning.

Why would anyone with a latex allergy buy rubber bands? Any rubber product in fact.
Does vulcanising the rubber mean that it is not a danger to the latex allergic. We need to know.......don't we?
Our postman must be allergic. He chucks any rubber bands he finds in his bag all over the place.
The Vulcanising comment is illogical.

And spacist.
Latex allergy is a serious thing. Friend had to have surgery, so that meant the operating theatre had to be latex free for her.
Re. unnecessary warnings. I once bought a packet of mixed nuts which said 'Warning, this product contains nuts'. Now that really was unnecessary!
One Autumn at the garden centre I bought some hyacinth bulbs to force for Christmas. The prominent label said:-
Warning! These must not be eaten!!

An even more prominent, handwritten bit of card had an arrow pointing to the warning and then said:-
Sorry about this. We know you are not that stupid, but the very stupid rules insist that we tell you not to eat them.

Brilliant.

The loom bands that were one of the crazes amongst children have been banned now. The rubber bands they were made from were found to contain cancer causing chemicals.
Unnecessary warnings of violence etc at the beginning of most Soaps, surely we know what they are like by now!
As stated previously, quite a lot of people are allergic to latex. It's a real nuisance in places like hospitals that use latex gloves, alternatives have to be provided.
It's the nanny state we now live in.
No one is deemed to be capable of thinking for themselves anymore.
Annoys me when the weatherman says it's going to be cold you need to wrap up warm, hot stay out of sun etc.
All treated as if we are 2 years old. Future generations will not be able to think for themselves being brought up like this.

douglas - a barrage of flashguns can trigger an epileptic person to have a fit.
"contains flash photography" is not an unnecessary warning, it is essential for sufferers of epilepsy.
