oh dear, wouldn't it be terrible if Sir Beer Korma got a fine?
Question Author
He said he’d step down if he does I recall
He said he would :"offer" his resignation.
The Labour Party wouldn't have to accept it.

You’ve had yo-yoitis, a couple of ibuprofen and you’ll bounce right back x
I'm glad to see you posting as well sqad. This is all just a fuss over nothing. Hasn't someone already confirmed that Durham police do not issue retrospective fixed penalty notices?

I didn’t know that Prudie :0/
I think dannyk and several others said it, we assume therefore that's true??
'When it emerged in May 2020 that Mr Cummings had travelled from London to Durham during the UK’s first lockdown, Durham Police released a statement which said: “In line with Durham constabulary’s general approach throughout the pandemic, there is no intention to take retrospective action in respect of the Barnard Castle incident since this would amount to treating Mr Cummings differently from other members of the public.

“Durham constabulary has not taken retrospective action against any other person.”'

^^^which is exactly why he said he’d offer his resignation if fined - knowing full well there won’t be a fine.

He refused to answer the question as to whether he would offer his resignation if not fined, but found to have breached the rules.

People have spun his offer to tender his resignation if fined as being “honourable”, but given he knows he won’t be fined, it’s an empty gesture and not honourable…but it’s managed to fool some people on this site.

Eee, me being one Desky ( mind that’s easy to do)
Some claimed that by saying he would step down if issued with a FPN, he was putting pressure on Durham Police so he cannot win either way, it seems.
Why did the Prime Minister not offer his resignation at any stage during the ‘No, no party oh wait yes there was but all guidance was followed but actually it wasn’t and the government were getting leathered regularly during lockdowns and we abused the minions for fun’ escape and evasion exercise we witnessed?
So many unanswered questions persist.
Fatti, Why aren’t you asking why Starmer didn’t resign when the finger was pointed - which is what he’s relentlessly been demanding of the PM? Starmer wasn’t prepared to wait for an investigation into that - but for himself he’ll wait until a fine is imposed. That’s handy!
Boris lied to parliament about the parties. Starmer was asking him to resign because he lied, not because he broke the rules. Starmer was prepared to wait for the results of the report, but knew, as many did, that Boris was lying. Starmer did not lie about his after work curry. I am not Political, neither Tory nor Labour.
You’re not political - and you’re not right either.
Nom, why aren’t you asking why the PM made several denials, lied about what had occurred, even told the House that there was no party on the 13th of November when he was subsequently found to have been present, then had to backtrack about everything?
I don’t really care about Starmer, by offering his immediate resignation if found to be in breach of the law he took the sting out of the whole story, I’m more interested in the PM, who made all the rules and with whom the buck stops. Inexplicably, the parliamentary standards committee think the same.
Why would they do that?
Or maybe the PM just attracts that sort of scrutiny because of his scurrilous behaviour throughout his career?
But of course you won’t see that, he’s a god to you.
The thread is about Sir Kier. Try and deflect it all you like onto someone else. But the buck stops here, Sir Keir.
