//What did his visit achieve that could not have been done via a Zoom call ? //

Time for you to give up, gromit.
Boris the world statesman ?

That ship sailed a long time ago ;-)
stop digging gromit!
Usually I'd agree Gromit, but in this occasion, yes he was. Are you so blinkered by contempt for him that you can't give credit where it's due.
well said mozz.
This reminds me of 9/11 in a way. With Bush nowhere to be seen, friends in Canada and the US told me that Tony Blair was the prominent spokesman on all their news reports. When it comes to the crunch, this country is always at the forefront. Shame you can't find it within yourself to abandon the vitriol and acknowledge that, Gromit - and even to take just a little pride in 'us' for once. Boris has played what they call 'a blinder' here. There's no doubt about that.
Yep, gotta admit, the boy done good.
naomi: " and even to take just a little pride in 'us' for once." - he's never going to do that, gromit is 100% anti British. Even if his beloved Labour were in power he'd still hate us only slightly less.
A little unfair on GWB Naomi. He addressed the nation from the school he was visiting almost immediately, and from the White House as soon as security allowed him too. Also, he was at Ground Zero by Sept 14.

Like Boris, Bush had his faults, but I don't think 9/11 was one of them.
Nope. He's anti Tory, but that is very different from being anti British.
I loved his speech at ground zero.
no mozz he always goes out of his way to run the country down regardless of politics.
Just musing that Gully and Gromit would make a good cartoon couple. Forget Wallace and Gromit.
Several prime ministers visited weeks ago
//I loved his speech at ground zero//

Agreed. It was a speech that utterly unified the country.

//no mozz he always goes out of his way to run the country down regardless of politics.//

I disagree. He runs down the government, not the country. "Anti-British" is a blanket term you turn to whenever anybody disagrees with you politically.

Anyway, we're moving away from the OP, so let's move on.
UK PM visit allows ABers their usual bun fight.

No situational change anywhere.
I don't think it is unfair, Mozz. After Bush initially spoke to the nation he disappeared for days.
mozz: ""Anti-British" is a blanket term you turn to whenever anybody disagrees with you politically. " - not true as I've said many times, I welcome debate but I will always challenge people running down the country all the time. People like gromit put a negative spin on everything from sports to economics.
Gromit: //Boris the world statesman ?
That ship sailed a long time ago ;-)//

Tell me about it.
I think as I said before despite his failings this is what Boris Johnson excels in.
How appropriate that on the very same day Imran Khan, who was schmoozing with Putin at the very moment Russian ranks were rolling into Ukraine, was voted out of office by Pakistani MPs.
