it's like those eejits who proclaim how safe their dog is with kids! You never know what's going on in their heads, the friendliest dog can turn violent in an instant.
When I saw this in Sky’s ticker tape earlier I wondered if the dog belonged to the family or to some dodgy friend who happened to be in the house. Absolutely devastating any way.
Some dogs are safe with kids. Others are not. It's tragic that parents like this make such mistakes, and it's always the poor, innocent child who pays the price.
I hope you'll forgive me for posting this heartwarming example of a dog who's so precious around their family's young child:
Poor child. It is unbelievable. You never leave a dog and child alone together, however well you know them. Either could hurt each other.
Mine are exceptionally friendly and protective around my grandchildren, but I'm still aware that while shouldering each other away from them, if they started arguing over them, I wouldn't want the child anywhere near them.
Poor little mite. Well I'll be the judgemental one, the best one could describe the parents as is stupid and ignorant. Highly likely it's a dangerous dog, bought in dodgy circumstances probably by the dad as an accessory as so many staffies and similar are these days.
I'd like to correct that. Some dogs are safe with kids providing they are supervised. No dog whatsoever should be left alone with a small child especially for even a minute. Dogs usually use growling as a warning the problem is sometimes its difficult to hear and in the case of a child it doesnt even realise. A dog (any dog) will growl 2-3 times before it snaps or worse, another problem being the dog doesnt count how many per person just the number of times it has needed to growl.
Dogs are great fun, we had boxers for a while, but you need to treat them with respect. They are not human.
anne, that was a quick volte-face. I think it was an unkind remark for the pictures released to the press show a lovely little girl, bonny, clean, well dressed and smiling at the camera. A terrible tragedy.
I suspect it was more related to a mind set than anything else.
