Never.
How can anybody not know the case.
I will never forget it.
Clearly no legal decision can ever be made on the basis of emotional input from someone directly connected to the circumstances, the law cannot function like that.

From what I know of the case, I would agree with the majority, that Venables still provides a real risk to public safety, and as such, should remain incarcerated, for the sake of the public at large.
He has clearly demonstrated that he is unsafe to be out and amongst us.
A definite NO.
TTT; //khandro: "Yes, but I don't know the case, tell me." - perlease!//

I know what he did as a child - who doesn't??? But I'm asking what he has done when released, I can only see that he has been caught looking at porn, am I correct? I haven't followed the recent case (s) but everyone on here seems to have been doing so.

Khandro, read my post at 12.57.
I've read through most that and I sense there is something wrong here, I would never give up on anyone, no one is irredeemable. Some people are born into unfortunate circumstances and may do terrible things.
Lock him up forever? What would Jesus or Buddha say?
Khandro. In that case, as he will need somewhere to live, would you take him under your roof and into your family?
Question Author
Frankly Khandro, sod whatever Buddha or Jesus might say. Should any child encounter him they could well find themselves in very unfortunate circumstances - and that’s putting it mildly.
I don’t need a lengthy answer. Yes or no will do.
What Jesus and Buddha would say is irrelevant Khandro. We need to make our own rules based on real life in the 21st century.

I don't think he should be released.
gness: // In that case, as he will need somewhere to live, would you take him under your roof and into your family?//

I would like to say, yes, but there are alternatives to that extreme; I would give him a job and find somewhere for him if I could.

I have heard only yesterday from a neighbour of a case of a 15 year old boy here, who has had an appalling start in life in a completely dysfunctional family - drugs, crime, violence, - you name it, it's a terrible story!

In an attempt to save him (he'd attacked the drug-craved father) the social services - to their enormous credit (by me) have sent him to work on a farm in Switzerland where he will be supervised and have to earn his keep. There's a chance, I hope.

naomi; I don't know what Jesus would say, but I think the Zen-master MIGHT say, "Go sweep the yard".
Khandro - What would Jesus say?

Howabout - My father created him and allowed him to kill a child, I think I need to have a word.

How does that sound?
Khandro, like all moralisers, you regard rehabilitation for Venables as someone else's problem.

When asked if you would take him in, you become a very un-Christian nimby.
^^^ If something bad smells in the basement, it will eventually make its way to the attic & then on to AB & I've just smelt it

Khandro, //I think the Zen-master MIGHT say, "Go sweep the yard". //

Khandro, If the Zen master shares your philosophy I wouldn't expect wisdom. There is no justification in excusing depravity - and this is depravity of the very worst kind. Sickening crimes against innocent children, Khandro, perpetrated by a vile excuse for a human being. What is it you don't understand about that?
Khandro - I have no idea what you are talking about, bit if it helps you to avoid addressing awkward questions, you crack on.
I have to say that I think Khandro lives in another world to most of us.
Not that they come to the attention of the public that often but, and I may be mistaken of course, when a 'difficult' decision has to be made by the parole board it can often seem like they're crossing their fingers and saying a small prayer in the vain hope that the bleedin' obvious won't happen.
