Someone has to bump this idiot Putin off ......Swiftly,

I hope not Naomi, Putin is a despot and will use his nuclear machine on those that oppose his military ,
All we can hope for is isolating him complete but even then he could still use his nuclear mite, what he’s doing has been planned for years and has shades of Adolph Hitler all over it
Well as I said a couple of days back, time to bolster the NATO countries and it should be done now. Troops placed back from the border but near enough Putin couldn't make a rush for them.
Unfortunately you cant let the fear of his nuclear capability overule everyone.

Time for the West to chuck the Woke and pronouns hand wringing away and grow balls of steel, just like the brave Ukrainians have shown us. It is our weakness that is spurring Putin on.
Is there an effective spray for nuclear mites?
Hes already threatened anyone who dares to stop him and his nuclear arsenal is ready to be deployed. The whole of Europe is a sitting duck.
Someone has to bump this idiot Putin off ......Swiftly,
We should be amassing troops in surrounding NATO countries in readiness for his next attempt to expand his empire...BUT I fear that the lunatic Putin would push the button rather than accept defeat.
Our best hope of not blowing the planet to smithereens is that someone close to Putin blows his *** head off.
For once I agree entirely with you Gully.
No.
Ukraine is unique. It has a Russian military base on its territory which Russia doesn’t want to be part of NATO. No other former Warsaw Pact country or indeed any other country has a strategic need for Russia.
//BUT I fear that the lunatic Putin would push the button rather than accept defeat.//

That is entirely possible, but the alternative is to raise the white flag and hand over the entire West to Putin. No doubt many of us would be tracked down and murdered anyway so we have to make a stand. The Ukrainians have shown us how. Putins forces dont seem to be as powerful as he makes out, the Ukrainians, whilst I fear they will ultimately loose, have really held them to account despite being massively outnumbered and out armed.

It is of course possible that if it goes further the Russian people will rise up as they will be more than aware if he pushes his button Russia will be wiped off the map, with them taken too.

bang on YMB and unusually Gully too! We need to at least have a no fly zone. Also all the intelligence agencies of the west need to bump this psycho off before be causes Armageddon. Get Mossad to do it they are good at that sort of thing.
A week ago I would have been with you Gromit. I think Putins actions are showing the case has changed. I would not be surprised if his ultimate aim was to recreate the USSR.
// It is our weakness that is spurring Putin on. //

More accurately, it was our weakness from 2014 onwards that encouraged Putin to take the rest of the country.
In Ukraine?

Well, if Ukraine’s resistance can hold on a bit longer it may not come to that.
Not sure how the promised weaponry would arrive.
Or course Putin can win a military war but he’ll never subdue Ukraine’s desire to stay free.

Boots on the ground would be the nuclear option possibly literally. But there are a lot of brave feet filling boots as things stand. What they need is that weaponry.
Certain people should note that as far as we know no Russians in Ukraine have joined the “denazification” process.
Question Author
Gulliver, this is definitely a first from me - and more than likely a last .... but have a best answer.
To make it clear, I am only proposing building up forces in NATO countries bordering Russia and even then not on the border.

I am afraid it is too late for Ukraine. The West has let them down.
doug: "Is there an effective spray for nuclear mites? " - I think Rentokil have a process doug!
//Or course Putin can win a military war but he’ll never subdue Ukraine’s desire to stay free.//

If they are up for it then perhaps the West should covertly support a guerrilla war, backing the Ukrainians of course.
I believe there's a tacit agreement in the world against assassination lest 'one of ours' is next.

Death is seldom for the babbling powerful, that's left to the plebs.
" time to bolster the NATO countries and it should be done now."

Why?
Article 5 of the Washington Treaty clearly commits each member state to consider an armed attack against one member state, in Europe or North America, to be an armed attack against them all.

Article 5 has only been invoked once, after the September 11 attacks, which led the alliance into Afghanistan.

Why feed the military industries unnecessarily ?
