Licking their wounds? Maybe voters are just as fed up with their constant sniping at the government yet not offering a viable solution to current problems.

Bashing the Tories is not bashing the UK. Bashing Gulliver because he lives abroad is ridiculous.
Atheist, nobody is bashing Gulliver because he lives abroad(he says) rather he gets bashed because of his unhealthy obsession with Boris Johnson.
Where have I bashed Gully because he lives abroad? Or anyone for that matter.

I have seen people ask why he is so interested in some UK centric topics, but thats not bashing someone.
@11.55 What on earth has the number of kids that Boris Johnson has got to do with anything?
Spin it however you like
This is a disaster for both in equal measure

Tory seat of 200 years is lost
Labour have dismal showing and relegated to third in spite of a government in free fall over lies and scandals

A sign of things to come
Nothing less

I saw Emily Thornberry on the Daily Politics yesterday, constantly interrupting, pulling faces when the other guests were speaking. I am not sure whether she thinks she won the argument but she came across as arrogant and rude.
//I also know that the Brits don't like the French'
....and the French dont like the Brits.... and I don't live in France..either.//

But do you know how the people of Saône et Loire get on with those in Cote d'Or? I certainly don’t.
NJ, don't encourage him.
//...but she came across as arrogant and rude.//

There's a perfectly simple explanation for that. :-)
//I also know that the Brits don't like the French'

Wrong
It is the English that the French do not like
They are more amiable to the Scots
The Welsh and the Irish
The Bretons have strong ties with all but the English
And I Don't like judges either ..
...and that goes for Judy,.. Rumpole,..Rinder,. and A/bs very own ....
....They are all Charlatons.....

North Shropshire is an appalling result for both the Tories and Labour.

Get real folks. It's a minor event.
To quote the Bard:
"It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."
Yeah davebro
Minor
Nothing for the Tories to worry about

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-59699135
Veteran backbencher Sir Roger Gale described the result "as a referendum on the prime minister's performance".
And former Scottish Tory leader Baroness Davidson told BBC Radio 4's World at One that Mr Johnson was "drinking in the last-chance saloon".

Nothing at all to worry about ! Lol
"North Shropshire is an appalling result for both the Tories and Labour. "
"Relegated to third"
etc etc

Yes Keir Starmer should resign now lol

He is dead in the water anyway
Whilst despite not expecting to win the number of votes they only just managed tells you everything you need to know about how it is going for Labour
I see it this way, no decent candidates for leader on either side. I really feel right now Rishi is needed where he is. The first Conservative chancellor in years to realise exceptional times need a different approach and I think he is best suited to his current role.
Much as I hate to support Gulliver I can confirm Salopians don't like Brummies very much but I doubt for most of their voters that had any influence in their voting decisions.
I think Boris should go as soon as a viable alternative becomes clear, and he must in the interim start sending out a signal that they need to get their act together. In the mean time he needs to hope and pray that Labour replace SKS with a Corbynite alternative or Abacus my personal preference. As things stand I would expect another coalition next general election.
I think Johnson should stay. Whatever the state of the parties right now, Johnson is good for Labour, even outwith the
by election.

"Boris ... must ... start sending out a signal ... get their act together"

Does he think he has done anything wrong? Yesterday he seemed to be saying it was the media's fault, not realising the disgust at trying to get one of his mates off, which caused the by-election, or (apparently) being unaware of the parties and "quizzes" that were being run during lockdown, or the disbelief of the arrangements for the No. 10 refurb.

That doesn't sound like someone who is going to learn lessons and change.
