My Tory activist friend (who is a plonker) nailed it. Predicted a LibDem win by thousands. He was right and I was wrong.
A clear message to Boris Johnson and to the 1922 Committee who decide on the leader.
Labour were not trying to win. They knew they couldn’t win, but also knew the LibDems could.
More to the point, the Conservatives were a poor second. A 23,000 Tory majority becomes a 6,000 LibDem majority. That is a huge shift, and a total rejection of Boris’s leadership and the Conservative Government.
If Patterson had accepted the result of an independent inquiry, and accepted his punishment like a man, and the Prime Minster followed the rules instead of trying to change them, then he didn’t have to resign and this election needn’t have happened.
Come on Gromit, show some compassion for the lying, cheating, womanising, feckless burst couch impersonator as he tries to gather his thoughts this day.
his wonderful feelgood front page story about naming Romy Iris only lasted one edition in the papers, I fear. Talk about a good day for burying good news.
theresa may burned up a tory majority and remained in power for years... johnson won't go anywhere for some time yet. They'll keep him there to absorb all the bad PR from brexit consequences then dump him just before the election... and it will work.
