No doubt, he probably would/has raped girls at every opportunity.
Not being allowed in the girls' toilets would deny him a massive opportunity.
Yes, it would. That's a shameful story.
There is more to the US story - the girl had had consensual sex with the boy in the school bathroom several times before the rape. I really don't think the fact that the boy wore a skirt and used the female bathroom had much to do with it. People who are prepared to rape don't take notice of 'no entry' signs and rules.

The second offence the boy committed was in an empty classroom, not a toilet

I would say that the boy using a female bathroom had rather a lot to do with presenting the opportunity.
That's alright then.
Call me an old fuddy duddy but I don't think kids should be having consensual sex in the school toilets(or classrooms)
Those kids were determined to have sex - they would have sneaked in to the toilets or some other suitable place regardless of the policy about boys using the girls loos.
Used to be back of the science block when I was at school.
I agree, Spicerack - kids should not be having sex at all, but the evidence is there that some children have probably since the dawn of time.
Do the schools in Spain have a " wear trousers to school day" to also promote equality?
Spanish girls can wear trousers to school if they want to - and so can female teachers.
No I wouldn't, at least not for this.

Adults need to leave the kids alone, especially primary school ones.
Personally I think the easiest way to deal with all this is to make it a rule in State schools that trousers (long) must be worn by all.
Barry, we shouldn't be making it easier for them by endorsing unisex bathrooms.

Girls and women wear trousers. Boys wearing skirts is not usual - hence this initiative.
What surprised me was that in the article it said 'some' parents objected ! Years back, all parents would have objected, but then of course years back such a thing would never have been heard of !
It makes much more sense to me to make school uniform long trousers for all. It would then avoid girls wearing skirts that are far too short.
Some people need to get a grip: Its a one-off event to promote equality. A bit like the days they have to dress up as their favourite character in a book. All churned up for the Daily Wail readers to get their little right-wing teeth into. ( Kerching! its worked!) I would not stop my child from joining in the event, nor would I make them comply.
Which equality would that be, apg?
All equalities spicerack, every equality is equal.
Shirley, perhaps being dubbed Daily Wail readers with little right-wing teeth silences them into submission to the anything goes brigade. More fool them for not speaking up.
been done
vicars and tarts parties from the 30s
modelled on the parties celebrating the disgraceful bahviour of the Vicar of Stiffkey who was defrocked and latterly eaten by a lion
Blackface Day will be interesting.
