1. Under 22s will be able to access free bus travel in Scotland from January 31 2022, the government has announced.

2. Young people in Scotland under the age of 26 are now eligible for free NHS dental treatment, after the SNP Scottish Government fulfilled its election pledge to scrap dental charges.

3. Hospital car parking charges are set to end permanently in Scotland.
The Scottish government has struck deals worth £35m to buy out the car parks at Ninewells
Hospital in Dundee and Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Negotiations are also "progressing" to take over the site at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh

Well done the SNPs, delivering as promised.

I thought that people in Scotland paid tax too. I might be wrong about that though ☺
Under 22s can sit on a bus for free. ;-) ;-)
That'll be just grand.
TBF, how the "government" allocates it's budget is up to them, I assume there are a lot of things that are not getting funded to pay for this. Whilst England do fund to 110% per head of what England gets it's not a blank cheque so they must have it somewhere.
Stick to cat pictures, wolfe.
There's a nice doggie one today.
Personal taxation is higher in Scotland than the rest of the UK, particularly for those on higher incomes

That'll be the free bikes going to waste then.
Cobblers. It's only higher for the top two bands.
What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
Scotland a beautiful place. Scottish folk lovely kind and brave. English, peed off paying for every Mohammed, Abdul, and Winston Smith.
//And Whiskey has got an "e" in it//

Since this thread is about Scotland, not Ireland, you are not correct.
I'm surprised they're allowed to set their own taxes. Bit dangerous, imo.

Spicerack, thank you for putting up a wee video of Boris Bunter, gave me a real belly laugh. Deep fried mars bars? Did you see Bunter on the news earlier - he must eat them by the bucket load! Maybe we should tax him more.
@New Judge.

I will rarely state a point with you and often bow to your superior knowledge. But Whiskey does have an "e" in it. Scotch Whiskey does not. It is semantics, yes, but if you use whiskey on its own, it always has an "e".

And please tell me you saw I was attempting an infantile statement, more than a spelling contest. Judges have a sense of humour as well!!!
Nae problem. Lot of tetchiness aboot the night.
^ the nicht.
Ttt. This is the 3rd times I have been accused of hating the English. Show me your evidence ttt. The other 2 who made the accusation couldn’t.
What I want and I would have thought all of us want is what is best for our country. A Tory government is not it . Will there be a referendum? I don’t know ? Would SNP win ? I don’t know. AB is the most anti Scottish forum I frequent. You ttt are a disgrace to your country. I feel sorry for you and those similar on this site .
'It is semantics, yes, but if you use whiskey on its own, it always has an "e".'

No it doesn't.

From The Scotch Whisky Regulations 2009

'3.—(1) In these Regulations “Scotch Whisky” means a whisky produced in Scotland—
[etc]'

You'll notice the Regs refer to, "a whisky" and not to, "a whiskey".
"often bow to your superior knowledge"

Oh come on!
1) Good if your under 22 or have children you support who use to pay. Not good if your having to fund it or if moneys been taken from another service you want.
Why under 22s. Why not under 30s? Under 40s?

2)God if your under 26. Not good if your over 26 and still having to pay while others who may contribute nothing to the economy get it free while your faced with rising tax bill's in future.

3) Great if you work there or need to go alot. Not good for the enviroment if people go by car to visit instead of bus or walk or bike. Bad if you find the car parks are full as even locals who live round the corner plus shoppers and people working nearby make use of free parking and take a space you need/

All fiddly gimmicks IMHO.
This thread is just a red rag to John Bull, maggie. :-)
