During the pandemic, the vast majority of deaths were senior citizens, who the govt had failed to protect, hence grovelling apology from Bojo the Clown in January. Now, the senior citizens will again be neglected by the govt when the triple lock is removed in the November budget, just after the re-introduction of State Control. This comes when everyone knows that the state pension in this country is the worst in Europe. It's all about the money. The dosh. The spondooliks. T'aint about you mate. Or your welfare. The country can't afford you. Otherwise, everything's fine thanks! :o)

I actually pointed out months ago I though the triple lock should go as is many pensioners wanting lockdowns that now have to be paid for. you were all for lockdown when others were paying, well now the boot may well be, quite rightly, on the other foot.

The State Pension is a misnomer. If it was a pension, those putting more in would get more out, so it should more accurately be described as ‘benefits’, certainly for those who haven’t paid all of their years or in some cases zero years.

8% is 4 x the rate of inflation and is simply unsustainable.

09.18 The Govt changed the name to Benefit . Most pensioners call it a pension, something most have spent a working life time contributing to.

The rest of it i agree with though - pensioners have fixed incomes, so i can't understand how they have been more affected, in fact theyve been cushioned

Yep the TL is unsustainable. We should not be giving 8%, totally unrealistic.

Yes I am a pensioner and I agree no way should we get an 8% increase in our SP. My pension didn't go down during the pandemic so I didn't have to worry unlike so many others. It's only a "may be" at the moment but I hope he goes ahead.
