I'm looking forward to the return of the typical BR sandwich, curling up at the edges, in station buffets. Also Lyon's fruit pies on the trains.
....and little square bars of green soap in the toilets
A half-arsed idea from, admittedly, the experts in half-arsed ideas.

Same old dross with another layer of management on top.
It'll never be as good as BR used to be.
It's only fair that Boris should follow some Labour policies.

After all, Tony Blair followed plenty of Conservative ones ;-)
>>> It'll never be as good as BR used to be

I think that including 'good' in the same sentence as 'BR' is somewhat anachronistic, Spicerack. Unless, possibly, 'for nothing' is also present in the same sentence ;-)
"After all, Tony Blair followed plenty of Conservative ones"

Can you actually name any?
"No rise in Income Tax rates" was a major pledge by Tony Blair, as was his commitment to retain Conservative spending limits for the first two years of his Government.
Thought not.
Thought everyone would know I was being facetious. (again)
spicerack, i knew you were, BR was a disaster, poor, inadequate trains, services often disrupted by strikes, can't see anything good about renationalising the railways.
But private operators will still be contracted to run most trains.
Canary, I am happy to agree with you, it's one of the things I have been urging for decades. It's been a shambles so bringing it all back together is good. However we should not return to the bad old days of British rail inefficiency.
it was a terrible service when nationalised.
Canary, I don't think this is quite what Labour had in mind:-
