Item on BBC breakfast this morning reporting on this. Don't they earn enough to buy their own food?

This is the only Scottish link I could find but there may be more firms who give discounts.

I know Emmie. And it really annoys me when so many are worried sick about their finances now and in the future.
i know Apc..
i wonder if the food stores and others will stop once the pandemic is over.
I love how people are putting the boot into nurses yet hardly anybody batted an eyelid or moaned about astronomical wages when a copper murdered a young woman or other coppers are doing shed loads of overtime to cover rioting but nobody would step into the breach and do either job lol
sticky some were in the care business but perhaps retired or left through ill health.
" but nobody would step into the breach and do either job lol"

Er - somebody must do or there would be no police or nurses!
dave i think he means us......
And dread to think of a society without Police or Nurses.
Sticktbottle - I think some of them do. They come into contact with people who may have covid but before they are diagnosed and surely this can be just as dangerous.
Stickybottle - surely no one is 'putting the boot' into nurses simply pointing out that other jobs which has also called for unsafe working should be recognised.
Or teachets or doctors or care staff or refuse workers or farmers or shopworkers or bus drivers or delivery drivers......
// but nobody would step into the breach and do either job lol//

From AB? oh I dunno -for the right amount of cash I'd saddle up one of my horses & help out the Mounted Police - I'm sure Shoota wouldn't mind helping out the Firearms unit, and as everyone knows there are a few 'retirees' of the Armed forces who contribute.

Roll on 'The AB Army'........who do you think you are kidding
Covid,if you think old Englands done! ;-)
Mine was for gulliver
Lankeela, care workers for disabilities are paid much better. That's where the money is. I used to get £15 an hour for sleep-ins, plus extra if you got woken. More than twice and you were paid a "waking night".
lady J. My son is one of those essential workers. Going all over the country and working all hours not knowing whether he has been exposed to Covid. And very often into hospitals, care homes and doctors surgeries.
Gulliver, our society relies on most workers. Police and Nurses rely on them as much as we all do. Surely, as a true socialist you should recognise that!
apc, he's not a true socialist - more a capitalist in disguise.
Apc I have three members of my family designated as key workers but none are nurses or doctors however from day 1 they have all come into contact with people who have/have had covid. one was unfortunate and has been very ill. I do not begrudge nurses their perks but feel it necessary to point out that there are workers who are and have been working and facing much the same dangers and problems. They surely deserve the same considerations.
Of course they do, Lady J.
