Some of these photos are shocking...some show a lack of respect for what the building represents.

"Although we have all the 'Orange man bad' on here there are a lot of Americans who voted for him and/or his ideals"

Indeed. Fascism.
"There was no justification whatever for holding an “enquiry” "

Well given the current situation I would say there was and it was pretty obvious all along this would get nasty.

And it wont go away just because you think it will. Some Americans have some weird views and are willing to go to lengths we would not appreciate in the UK. Many see it as a commie takeover, with thoughts like that its not going away whether you like it or not.
In what way has Trump been a Fascist?

He is odd for sure but not a fascist.
do you really think an "inquiry" would have satisfied the people who claim to beleive that the election was stolen? These people are qanoners and conspiracy theorists. Nothing will satisfy them.
If I were Jpe Biden think I would be wearing a bulletproof vest.
There is zero chance of Trump running again, impeachment or not.

I almost hope he does, because it will be another well deserved humiliating defeat for him.
People’s wilful or otherwise delusions are no excuse.
If a madman next door to you was yelling that his relatives were out to get him and you knew for a fact they’d all died years ago you’d be calling for a doctor, not trying to launch a police investigation into his family
“ If I were Joe Biden think I would be wearing a bulletproof vest.”

If I were Mike Pence more like. Apparently they were after him
Kidnappings of protestors by homeland security, violence against peaceful protestors, refusing to concede if he lost (it was clear he wouldn't before the election), his response to the fascist march in Charlottesville ("very fine people on both sides"), drumming up a private gang of young violent hoodlums who are loyal to him and not the state which he has been doing for years - and unleashing them on his opponents.
I dont know untitled but dont you think it would have been worth a shot. I am sure there are many who will be thinking it but wont resort to violence and would consider the findings.

Anyone who things the right wing extremists are going to lie down and take this is deluded. They have been around for many years before Trump and now have a focussed goal. Bad news all round.

YEs Danny I agree, but really hope it doesnt come to that.
"People’s wilful or otherwise delusions are no excuse."

The problem is one persons view is another persons delusion. Just because you think it is right doesnt mean it is. And visa versa.

Just like one persons terrorist is another persons freedom fighter.

Things are not black and white in these situations.
I don't think they will take it. I think they are determined to get "their man" into power, by hook or by crook they are not interested in the truth... if he'd won they would accept the result, they are now kicking off purely because he did not. And he has been drumming them up for years.
Sounds like you are trying to stand up for him.
It’s delusional to continue to insist on fraud when thy have no evidence.
It’s dangerous to provoke your witless supports by fanning the flames of their bigotry.
Matching them up to the top of a hill and telling them to be peaceful, you love them, while bombs are going off and people are being shot.
Trump really reminds me of early Ian Paisley, but Paisley never had the power Trump had.
I thought that after the initial breakdown in security the law enforcement did a brilliant job of defusing the situation
//Sounds like you are trying to stand up for him.//

Yes. Even now many of the Trump faithful still can't quite bring themselves to just say this is wrong, and it's Trump's doing. It still has to be somehow the Democrats fault, and even Hillary gets a mention.
Funny if it weren't so sad.
One of the Rep congressmen even stood up and claimed it was all antifa... I don't think it's delusion though, just dishonesty. They will tell whatever lies they think will get them somewhere and resort to violence when they run out.
There was some very good speeches yesterday. Senator Pat Toomey (R) Pennsylvania reminded everyone that the election in fact was not all that close. And that it was illogical to arbitrarily raise objections to the votes in just three states. What about all the others? His devastating dismantling of his own President’s behaviour was shamefully ignored as some republicans STILL pointlessly raised objections to Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The latter was thrown out before it got to a debate as it had not been properly prepared. How useless and pointless can you get
its not for convincing "us" though anymore is it... it's for Trump's modern-day brownshirts who are armed to the teeth and eager to get violent.
Trump is trying not very covincingly IMO, to distance himself, after all they purported to be his followers. 1 lady dead from a shot wound and another 3 dead from natural causes.
> 1 lady dead from a shot wound and another 3 dead from natural causes.

Maybe not natural causes, we shall see. For example, if you have a heart condition or severe asthma, it's not advisable to be around tear gas.

Incidentally here are Pat Toomey's remarks, made before the riot:
