One of the worst police failures in history.Many women wudnt have died if the force had done their job properly.

It was a sad indictment of the times when Sutcliffe first murdered an 'innocent ' woman, in other words, one who was not a prostitute.

Ag, to be fair, the police were mired in tons of paperwork in those pre-computer times, and evidential links were missed.

Today, Sutcliffe would have been caught far quicker.

The Detective in charge was taken in by the Hoaxer who sent him tapes saying, "I am Jack". So much time wasted.

I know AG, but the guy in charge believed the Hoaxer. He was incompetent. I remember the Hoaxer served a prison term for what he did. Fewer women would have died but for him sending that tape.

Arrested on suspicion of false number plates but he asked to go for a wee and hid stuff outside Tilly
