That's £13 a year. You can use it to buy a bottle of supermarket whisky for Christmas
Over £12 a year! I think you need some Investment advice ;-)
Seems a bit pointless doesn't it.
Don't let it go to your head :-)
Where's the party to celebrate? Sanatogen all round. The stamp would have used three week's worth, they'll probably deduct it!
Same as the £10 Xmas bonus. When first introduced it was the equivalent of an extra week's pension. To keep parity it would have to be about £150 now.
But the good news is your Winter Fuel Allowance will increase from £200 to £300!!! Yay!!!

Sadly not until next year,ladybirder

Agree with that Jackdaw,totally pointless.
look forward to receiving a similar letter, it'll be a few quid off the tv licence i've now got to buy . . .
Well that's your fault, you were born at the wrong time to get it this year;-))
May seem that way but you'd want your pension spending power to be retained/improved and would have a complaint if not informed of changes. Maybe tell them to use your e-mail address for future change info.
Ridiculous, I agree Unsureme.
In the 1960,s I could have taken you to a pub in the East End of London ,where, for 25pence you could have got a "knee trembler" but now aged over 80 you can get one by just standing up for a minute without your Zimmer.
That has got to be good news....LOL
^ don't suppose that pub is still open?
ael.......if it is, I bet that she is still standing up against that wall.
I think it’s on a level with the £10 Christmas bonus you get each year, which probably costs that to administer. Utterly pointless.
Good job we don't have your address or you'd be getting loads of begging letters! :-)
If you save up for a month you could buy a postage stamp.

(PS. begging letter on its way.)
5/- you could buy a squad of Britains soldiers with that...
yeah, agreed it seems pointless and certainly not worth posting letters out. But a bet there'd be crys of pennypiching from uncaring goverments if it was stopped. And if they increased it instead anythink under a few pound's would be mocked. So there thinking is maybe its best to leave it at 25p
